I still using KDE 3.5.x.
KDE4 is still missing important things and have anjoying bugs. KDE 3.5.x is a stable workhorse which do a excellent job.

The following things keep me on KDE3.5.x:

- panels cant be stacked (important for me! but kde devs still refusing to made it, not hard to implement, very useful if you have a lot of windows open and window list is an extra panel as in kde 1-3)

- grouping panel is very hard to configure and looks a little bit unfinished (arrage applets hard, no way to swap rows, ...)

- akonadi is getting very busy for some time with large imap trees

- kmail shows some imap messages duplicated

- imap folder access with kmail is slower than kmail1

- print dialog is still very limited (no print preview, no poster print, psnup filters missing, print multiple pages on a sheet missing, no duplex print options)

- FolderView keeps sorting icons bug still exist (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=227157)

The most important for me is the panel issue. When the panel got more love and the feature of panel stacking will be back? Also, the grouping panel could be help a bit but its really need work on it to get it in usable state.

Someone to know to get the issues of KDE4 solved? - Mar 27 2013

I got it. It seems to be an Qt bug (< 4.5.1). On my machine runs 4.5.1 and it dont crash. On 2 other machines it does crashing because an assertion fail. This is very unuseal.
I found a workaround and commited it to svn. So KVpnc (KDE4) now opens the profile manager again ;) - Jun 18 2009
Hm, strange.

Which kde4 version and which qt4 you are using?

It seems to be a problem with special chars inside the pcf. can you mail it to me (use mail address shown in kvpnc about info)?

> I also tried the profile wizard. I selected "Import PCF file" but it never prompts me to pick the file. When I hit "Finish" on the last page the status message in the log says "Creating new profile canceled".
This is now fixed in svn. As hotfix you can select cisco (free) as type, and import. Later you can change the type in profile or preferences dialog.

Hello,

These are just about 5 options in the config file.
Give me an exmaple for it ;)

I have no hardware for this but I think its not hard to do. So it can be done in next release (cvs/0.8.4)

I'm currently on Linuxtag at Chemnitz, if you there, you can find my at the KDE place. - Mar 05 2006
> Does anyone know where I can
get older versions.
Yes, go to http://download.gna.org/kvpnc/ but I recommend to use latest 0.8.2.1 (http://ie.releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/k/kvpnc/kvpnc_0.8.2.1-0ubuntu1_i386.deb)

> This app used to work great but since I've switched to Kubuntu I got
a new version. All the new versions dont work with PPTP.
0.8.2.1 should work with pptp (pptp detection changed).

> The version coming with Kubuntu (0.8) did crash consistently - on config, on exit, on nearly every occasion. Then I compiled 0.8.1. Still crashes. Then I compiled the current version. This one doesnt work with the ppp coming with Kubuntu anymore. It uses an option "mppe" which doesnt seem to exist.
0.8.2 changes pptp handling. KVpnc now detect which pptp implemtation is used and set right options.

> I dont want to recompile ppp. So, I just want the old kvpnc back - I dont
need any of the new features. - Jan 24 2006

I'll look at it.

Now I know it ;)

I'll have a look at it and try to fix.

You need kernel 2.6 or a patched 2.4. kernel.

It means that the tunnel interface cant be initalized. you need to create the device file:
mkdir -p /dev/net
mknod /dev/net/tun c 10 200

and then load the module:
modprobe tun

Hello,

I have problems with 0.10.0 and 0.10.1. Kdialogd crashes.

But after a whiole searching I found a workaround:

0.9.4 works without crash.
http://www.filewatcher.com/m/KGtk-0.9.4.tar.bz2.42300.0.0.html

If I have time, i'll look into the code of 0.10.1 later. - Oct 06 2009
It would be nice, if I can use my editor (PyPE) with remote files (via kde dialogs).

You have to use an ioslave, which handles the local store and saving back.

Please implement this! - Feb 06 2009
I would be very cool if print dialogs could be replaced with kprinter

Anyway: Thanks for the good work!!! - Jul 23 2006

Did you know kdevmon? It was an very cool kde3 app and I port it to KDE4 some month ago.

You can download it from kde svn:
svn co svn://anonsvn.kde.org/home/kde/trunk/playground/network/kdevmon kdevmon-kde4
then:
cd kdevmon-kde4 && cmake . && make

Its the only one app which can display bars/lines or text (e.g. 2b, 5k, 7m for values with units) in a small icon (16x16 is possible):
