Have you tried the workaround given in the description?

• If the configuration dialog is not reachable via “systemsettings”, then try the following command and restart “systemsettings”:

ln --relative --symbolic ~/.local/share/kwin/scripts/sticky-window-snapping/metadata.desktop ~/.local/share/kservices5/kwin-script-sticky-window-snapping.desktop - Oct 27 2018
It would be great if you could try the current version (v1.0) of the script and give me some feedback if your problems are fixed.
Probably, the threshold, which Zren introduced, fixed the problem. In v1.0 the threshold is configurable and initially zero, so you might have to adapt it. Note the workarounds mentioned in the description if the configuration dialog is not available. - Aug 25 2018
This problem was caused by a bug in KWin, which is now fixed. (cf. https://github.com/Flupp/sticky-window-snapping/issues/1) - Oct 15 2015
Unfortunately, as far as I know, it is not possible to get the mouse position with a KWin script. But I also think the behavior would be rather unintuitive if there are two small windows snapped to the same edge of a large window. - Jul 06 2013
Have you forgotten to press the “Apply” button in systemsettings? (Maybe this seems like a stupid question, but I occasionally forget it myself.)

Have you tried restarting kwin after applying the changes (Alt+F2: kwin --replace)? I have to do this sometimes – this may be a bug in kwin, but I am not sure.

Alternatively you can try to log out and log in again. - Apr 12 2013

Actually, the lights are some kind of a hack. They are not intended by the plasma themes. The following smooth-tasks version contains a possibility to change the size of the rectangular light region.

This was a design decision of mine. Since the task buttons can be expanded and there may be multiple lines (or maybe better call it columns in vertical mode?), I orientated things as you would expect from a book shelf: The Text is written bottom-up and if you read many book titles (i.e. lines of task buttons) you do this from left to right, as usual. (Unfortunately, not all books stick to this rule.) But maybe things should be different for right-to-left fonts. - Apr 10 2011
I have integrated the current code from panzi, jimi312 and the Turkish translation from maidis into my repository, which you may already know:

https://bitbucket.org/flupp/smooth-tasks-fork

The outstanding new feature of my fork is the variable size of task buttons depending on the length of the window title.

There are some issues with launchers, but I have the same issues with the default task bar of KDE, so I think it’s a problem of libtaskmanager.

If you encounter any other issues, feel free to use my bug tracker at bitbucket, but I cannot guarantee to fix them in near or distant future. - Mar 16 2011
I liked it more when the light didn't follow the mouse vertically (in horizontal taskbar mode). - Oct 13 2009
