hi :) u can look in google how to do this work:
http://www.google.com.co/#hl=es&q=change+splash+openoffice+ubuntu&fp=8f2d0e500c38fd0c

but the way i use si the next:
(if you use ubuntu or debian deribated)

1) open a terminal console

2) type sudo nautilus & then type ure root password

3) go to the "/usr/lib/openoffice/program/" folder & backup the file called "openintro_ubuntu.bmp" that's the original splash.

4)then go to the place where u download the spolash 'n cut it.

5) go back to the "/usr/lib/openoffice/program/" folder & paste the splash that u like.
if u are an ubuntu user be sure that the name of the file you replace must be "openintro_ubuntu.bmp"

other way to do this job is the next:

1)open a terminal.

2) Backup the original splash:
sudo mv /usr/lib/openoffice/program/openintro_ubuntu.bmp /usr/lib/openoffice/program/openintro_ubuntu.bmp_BAK

3)Set the new splash:
sudo cp <the name of the image>.bmp /usr/lib/openoffice/program/openintro_ubuntu.bmp

if u use another distro Simply replace intro.bmp with another indexed BMP or a 24-bit RGB, but do not use 32-bit RGB. It's easiest if you start with 440x286 resolution, so you don't have to change the progress bar. You will need root or administrator privileges and a tool such as the GIMP to make BMPs.

The path of intro.bmp varies depending on your edition and version of OpenOffice.org. Common paths include:

* Mandriva : /usr/lib/ooo-2.2/program/intro.bmp
* Ubuntu : /usr/lib/openoffice/program/openintro_ubuntu.bmp
* Vanilla 2.4 Linux: /opt/openoffice.org2.4/program/intro.bmp
* Vanilla 2.4 Windows: c:\Program Files\OpenOffice.org 2.4\intro.bmp
