What are your plans on bespin for Qt5? - Feb 04 2013
The font I'm using is TeX Gyre Heros

This font also has problems with the ktitlewidget hack, again because of font metric calculation issues. I "fixed" that by commenting out the code that changes the font size there.

- Dec 15 2012
It's FontOffset that fixed it

It's not because of special font settings in KMail, since the error also appears in toolbar buttons. - Dec 15 2012
Adding those lines appears to have fixed it.

However, there were no special settings for KMail, so it is strange that only KMail was affected. - Dec 15 2012
Yes, I was logged in.
I am, interestingly enough, able to create a topic in the forum which I have done.

A relevant screen capture is here: - Dec 14 2012
For some reason, it appears to be impossible to report a bug in bespin's bug tracker on sourceforge.

The bug itself is that in KMail(2), the text on all widgets, including toolbar buttons, appears at the very bottom of the widget rather than centered vertically. - Dec 14 2012
would it be possible to add to XBar the ability to use appmenu from ubuntu for gtk applications and others not using qt - Jun 04 2012
You might want to consider the QFontMetric object that enables retrieval of information such as the total space needed by the font, given the text to be printed. You could then set the QLabel's size (and maybe KTitleWidget's size) based on this so the text fits. Might require a somewhat extensive redesign of the hack though. - Apr 24 2012
After r1488, the situation is somewhat better, but the very bottom of the descenders is still cut off. - Apr 23 2012
Screenshot - Apr 20 2012
When the KTitleWidget workaround is enabled, the descenders of text are cut off with both the Open Sans and FreeSans fonts. - Apr 18 2012
That's fixed the problem for Qt apps, but on further investigation, I found if I had a preset with Class: Firefox and Types: normal, and another with only Types: normal, with the firefox preset appearing first in the list, all normal gtk windows have the firefox preset applied, that is the best fitting preset is not chosen, but rather the first fitting preset. - Apr 10 2012
When I set up a decorator preset based on window type, this preset is applied not just to windows not providing decorator hints, but also to bespin styled qt windows, which do provide these hints

(I am trying to set up the decorator so gtk windows also have a seamless titlebar) - Apr 09 2012

When using the bespin theme, attempting to use pyqwt or guiqwt causes a segfault which does not occur with oxygen - Apr 04 2012
That doesn't work

bespin continues to use default settings in KDM even after root's settings are changed - Dec 12 2010
I want KDM to use my bespin preset for dialogs such as the shutdown dialog or the XDMCP dialog.

Unfortunately, config.defaults uses a different syntax to the presents
(the preset uses an INI style syntax, whereas config.defaults is really a header file) - Dec 12 2010
Is it possible to compile bespin in such a way that my custom preset settings are the default settings. - Dec 12 2010
There is a bug in the bespin style which causes the second menu item in Xbar

(kate on the plasma menu, or usually Edit on application menus) to not appear.

The bug is in bespin, not xbar, since the bug does not manifest if I kquitapp plasma-desktop, then

plasma-desktop -style=oxygen
plasma-desktop -style=skulpture - Jun 13 2010
I have set Bespin as my qt theme for the KDM desktop manager. Can you add a way to either change the preset that is used in kdm, or to change the default preset, thereby also changing the preset used in kdm. - May 16 2010
I'm using Bespin and UNO with the SmoothOctans color scheme

Sometimes the text from tool bar buttons appears in the standard window text color instead of the inverted one for UNO, making it unreadable. When I say sometimes, I mean the same button will sometimes be the wrong color, some times the right one, and usually, not all buttons in the toolbar are the wrong color.

Also, would it be possible to XBar display some sort of special "desktop" or "system" menu set (e.g. like the finder menus on mac) when the user is in plasma, and a message saying somethign like "This program does not have any menus" when the program does not provide menus. Also of intrest might be that there is a bug that means when I am in the lancelot launcher, XBar shows the taskbar instead of the menus for the application that is active. - Jan 23 2010
Slightly off the topic, but previously, bespins ability to show KDE dialogs in Pure Qt applications was removed due to errors with certain applications, and it was said that QT 4.6 could call KIO.

a) Does this mean that Qt 4.6 will show KDE dialogs, or simply that it can open files through kio (and in this case, transparantly or the application developer has to enable support)
b) In the first case, is this supposed to work with KDE SC 4.3, or only 4.4 as it doesn't in my 4.3 - Jan 09 2010
When I try to compile revision 863, I get an error about undefined KdeIni in kwin/config/config.cpp. Adding #include "../config/KdeIni.h" to kwin/config/config.h allows it to compile, but systemsettings segfaults when I switch to the windeco module (this is the bespin kwin deco configurator's fault, according to the debug info.) - Nov 29 2009
Since the kdialog helper app based overide needs to be removed, I would suggest doing it 'properly', i.e. linking to kdelibs and calling the kde functions. This could presumably also be made to work for non-static dialogs, and other dialogs such as colour selection dialogs. Is there anything preventing this from being done? - Nov 23 2009
I've just checked that kdialog works, and it does, but Qt Designer, which is used to illustrate this with QGtkStyle, still uses the Qt dialog. - May 13 2009
oops, forgot to add, QGtkStyle does this, it might help you. Also, KOffice seems to use an embedded widget version of the KDE file chooser which could also help. - May 12 2009
Could you add an option, configurable via the config dialog, which replaces the qt4 file chooser in pure Qt4 applications such as VLC v0.9 or LyX, with the KDE file chooser. - May 12 2009

I get the same error with packageKit 0.5.5 - Jan 14 2010
PackageKit 0.3.12 has no file, only
Same applies to 0.3.13. Also, when I use pkcon get-details kde-devel, I get the package details, however, if pkmon is running on another tty at the same time, I get
"Error: internal-error : The backend took too much time to process the synchronus request - you need to fork" - Jan 24 2009
I compiled this on debian, after installing PackageKit 0.3.12 with backend=apt. When I run KPackageKit, and start an operation, I get a message saying the backend took too long, and it should fork. Can you give instructions how to compile with PackageKit 0.3.12 on Debian Sid/Experimental. (KDE-Polkit from kdereview) - Jan 21 2009

When's the next update going to be. By this I mean both the nex 0.59.x update, and 0.60? For the next update, can you make GTK use the KDE4 file dialog. The GTK one is really annoying, and gives a lot of inconsistancy. - Oct 02 2008

I think it would be nice if you could make a System Settings replacement in the same style. If so, please include the Administrator mode button, as System Settings is annoying without it. - Aug 24 2008

I am currently using the kdm from kde 4.1 RC1. I have set it to Clean_Swirl, and when I start kdm, I get a message

Theme not usable with authentication method 'username + Password (classic)'

Then I get the Clean_Swirl background image and the overlay with the semi-transparent box, but nothing else, except a Username and Password entry at the top left corner. - Jul 20 2008

The system icon on KDE, the one of a computer screen, has a K logo on it. I think it would be better to have the same icon as the computer icon on GNOME because it looks better. - Jun 15 2008

Is there any chance you could turn the kgtk2-wrapper into a patch for GTK, so that ALL gtk applications use the KDE dialogs.

The QtGtk libraries may help here. - May 21 2008
