Description:
With the recent release of Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid, a new theme was included called Radiance.

Radiance introduced a movement of the window border controls from the top right side, to the top left side of the window.

This version of Radiance is a modification of the Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Radiance theme and I have moved the controls back to their original position.

This is a direct modification of the Radiance theme. The original name of this theme is Radiance, this version of the theme is called Radiance_R (Radiance Right Side).

No other changes have been made to this theme other than to restore the window border controls to their original right side position and reactivate the menu control in the original left side top position.

To install this them in Ubuntu 10.04 you can follow these steps.

System -> Preferences -> Appearance
Click the Theme tab.
Click Install.
Browse to the Radiance_R.tar.gz file.
Click open.

This will install the theme automatically for you.

Once installed you should now see a new theme entitled Radiance_R.

Select this theme and you will have the new Radiance theme with the controls in the top right side position.

If you are going to install this theme on a previous version of Ubuntu or other version of Linux you will need to also install the default icons Ubuntu-mono-dark and Ubuntu-mono-light.

You can download the require .deb package from the ubuntu servers using the following link:

This is in the font category. As I see it is a theme package for GNOME. Please, correct it.

This works for me as well as the other right sided theme you've done, so thanks for that. Better solution than faffing in the gconf editor imho.

Please however, could someone direct me to these "Ubuntu Tools" that are allegedly available to edit this yourself? I can't find them anywhere...

If the only thing of this theme is the position of the buttons...
Well this theme is useless.

There are a lot of programs to change the position, or better you can use the gconf-editor options.

Using gconf to move the buttons around for a new user is not the optimal solution, because if they decide later that they want to move them back, then they have to use the gconf tool to manually edit the location once again.

Having the theme with them in the correct position to begin with is a much better solution.

Having this theme is something that numerous people requested that I make for them so that is what I did.

If it helps someone, then it isn't useless, in fact it benefits the community in general by having it. If you don't like it, then you aren't required to use it, however many people do like it and they are using it as their desktop theme.

Linux is about freedom and the ability to choose how we use our computers. This is simply giving us another choice.

Enjoy! - zipperback

With the various tool you can find, first of all Ubuntu Tools, I think that the metacity disposition is the less importan stuff in a theme.

If you don't like the controls in the new left side position for Radiance and Ambiance, you can download slightly modified versions of those themes entitled Radiance_R and Ambiance_R. I have modified these thems and posted them on Gnome-Look.org for people who would like to use them.

Here are the links to the themes.

Ambiance_R (Ambiance Right Side)

Radiance_R (Radiance Right Side)

I hope you find these beneficial and enjoy them.
