Description:

Vibrancy Colors is a Bold, Modern & "Vibrant" GTK Icon Theme.
Vibrancy is a mixture of many amazing open source icon projects/themes into a new, "Vibrant" icon theme. It is meant to be Modern, Clean and Customizable.

Vibrancy is a different take on the "Flat" or "Modern Design" trend, Featuring simple, beautiful and modern icons. But with a lot of handcrafted details and emotion.

NEW 2.7 Update! (April 15th, 2016) Fixes for 16.04 LTS, Gnome Software & new app icons.

This theme Is fully compatible the new Gnome/GTK 3.18 & 3.20+ (Newer and older versions of GTK/Gnome will work too)

Vibrancy was built with RAVEfinity Color Suite GTK Themes in mind, Or any theme you see fit. It is also meant to work nicely with flat GTK themes like Ambiance Flat.

Check out Ambiance & Radiance Flat Colors (Shown in screen-shots)
A GTK Theme Designed with this theme in mind:http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Ambiance+%26+Radiance+Flat+Colors?content=168090

Fully tested/built to work on most major GTK desktops including: Unity, Cinnamon, Gnome Shell, Gnome Classic, Mate, Xfce, LXDE, Openbox and more.

Vibrancy Colors features Vivid and beautiful application icons based on Moka/Faba (We have made our own touches and changes to thease icons however), Monochrome Panel Icons By Faenza, Mimetype icons based on Numix square, Folders based on KDE Breeze icons by Uri Herrera. And With Folder Symbols, Toolbar Icons In NonMono by elementray. And Lastly With new folder colors tweaks changes testing and integration by RAVEfinity.

14 Colors of Folders are Selectable: Stock Manila Folders, Blue, Aqua, Graphite,Blue Vivid (Dark), Brown, Green, Green Viva (Dark), Purple, Red, Pink, Orange, Teal, Yellow.

This Theme is not just a icon theme with a bunch of "Colors" It offers much more and lots of work has been put into refining things. It just happens to come in lots of colors because it can! Aren't you bored of limited folder colors?

Despite all the options available We have highly optimized this theme so it is efficient. And also smaller then some other themes considering the amount of options. (Requires 95 MB Installed) We did a build with less colors in it, However the size difference was very minimal. Due to efficient structuring work done. (Colors take up less then 1MB each)

5 Versions Of Panel/Toolbar Icon Configs Are Selectable (For Each Color):

Vibrancy Light - Dark Monochrome Panel Icons. And Dark Monochrome Icons For The Toolbar Icons.

Vibrancy Dark - Light Monochrome Panel Icons. And Dark Monochrome Icons For The Toolbars Icons.

Vibrancy Full Dark - Light Monochrome Panel Icons. And Light Monochrome Icons For The Toolbars Icons.

Vibrancy-NonMono-Dark - Keeps the Light Monochrome panel icons. but then provides traditional toolbar icons (Color based)

Vibrancy-NonMono-Light - Keeps the Dark Monochrome panel icons. but then provides traditional toolbar icons (Color based)

The problem isn't the distro...

Even though this is listed as a KDE iconset it's still downloaded saying GTK, they're the same really, not that it matters what DE you use them on.

If you use something like LXApperance and Openbox as example, this doesn't work.

Because when you open the archive, you are presented with several different directories each named;

Vibrancy-Colors
Vibrancy-Colors-Dark
Vibrancy-Dark-Blue

etc....

So this probably works better in KDE & Gnome, and as the archive is called;

Vibrancy-Colors-GTK-Icon-Theme-v-2-7 this isn't really a stand alone iconset for just GTK apps on any DE or WM, this is what I was getting at.

Make sense now?

Please test in something like Openbox, Fluxbox, Blackbox, with LXAppearance and you'll see what I mean.

In a light weight window manager setup with something as LXappearance, Vibrancy-Colors is the only thing that works on it's own...

First let me say, the work that has been done is appreciated, but this is also not even an icon theme that pretty muchs stands on it's own. The majority of the work comes out of the gnome-icon-theme.

I do know that some distros that are not based on Gnome are no longer including the gnome icon theme.

I like what's being offered, for what little it is, but it would really be great if it was more complete and had more icons to stand on it's own and not be so dependent on Gnome.

This theme is probably 50%-75% the gnome icon theme....

Majority of artwork is out of the Gnome Icon Theme? I am not sure what you are referring to. Last time I checked this was not the case. If you have common apps VLC, Firefox, so many more they should be themed. There are thousands of app icons here...

Gnomes Icon Theme is pretty basic from the get go. However as you install apps each apps icon created by the app developer gets installed in the Gnome Icon Theme or HiColor. Thats why we all base on the Gnome Icon theme at the very base level so we pick up the icons the app maker has created. Gnome Icons is a great base but the stock theme is basic.

That being said the whole point is to try to change up the look and make things pretty. There are exceptions some apps we can't theme because the devs or packagers hard link icons. or some apps are just weird.

I will have a look becuase 50-70% does not sound right to me. Not sure what distro you are on.

Anyway thanks I will check.

Did you happen to install the theme Vibrantly Simple? because that theme is 50-70% Gnome on purpose.. Vibrancy Colors (This) is totally different....

Absolutely love this icon pack! It suits perfectly with modern flat look. It's so hard to find such icons and I've been looking so long. I used Apricity icons and loved the look of program icons but folder icons were incredibly ugly. Now vibrancy colors fixes it giving great look everywhere! Thanks!

I would love it even more (if that's possible ;P) if there would be circle version of those, although I fear it wouldn't be so homogeneously looking because some icons stay square-ish by default (krusader) or we have own installed programs with default square icons (like laverne) so icons would be mismatched. Still, it would be great to have such option, because there are always ways to edit those singe square icons to suit the whole icon pack.

Hi, first of all, thank you very much for this awesome theme (it's my favourite one). I've got only one 'issue' with the mail notifier icon on my top bar (i am using Ubuntu 15.10 with Unity). The icon doesn't change from 'white' when a new mail arrives. I tested it with another themes and worked ok (some themes turn the icon blue coloured and others 'show' a star or something to indicate unread mails).

Hello thanks for the comment. Awhile back the mail icon used to be very dark until new mail arrived however many thought this did not look good. So at the current time in 2.6 the state does not change. However I think we could do something like make the icon brighter so I will investigate this. Thanks for bringing it up.

Update: We are working on our GTK GUI themes. But this issue is on our radar to be fixed next.

However, i need to give some constructive criticism. I think there should be bigger difference in between audio and video icons, audio icons should be much lighter, neutral color, siilar to those from RAVE-X, in Mint (nemo and Caja) i used combination of those two themes in order to make them usable and easy to destinguish, in GNOME 3 (mutter) it is not a problem, since file manager shows previews for videos, but it would be nice to be more like RAVE-X.

Anyway, great work, thanks :)>

Thank you for your feedback. I had not considered this But I will take a look and see what we can do.

As you say we sort of assume Video files and Image files will be thumb-nailed for the most part. But I will see what we can do in differentiating them.

You make good points I will look into them.

Report

leipero

You're welcome, another point i forgot to include, is that some .mp3/audio files are thumb-nailed like images, that brings another problem in fast glancing over files. From aestethic point of view, it is great, but from practical point of view, it can bring some problems (especially in caja and nemo).

Anyway, thanks for great work, much appreciated, this icon set is "a must" for any modern looking Linux distro.

the thing that stands out the most about these icons is this: it is a complete icon set... even to the point of providing color folders in nautilus within the theme. They works on Xfce, GNOME etc.. a thorough job, the focus not only being design but also the desktops for which they are intended. This attention to detail is what I've become used to from all those icon themes provided by Ravefinity. Well done! Icon theming is not only accomplished by artistry or design alone.

is there anyway you can make a larger monochrome panel icon for redshift and also make the wifi/volume one more flat looking? also missing icons for rakarak (guitar effects processor) GFCE ultra nes emulator and catfish file search i would appreciate it if you could add those :) tthank you!

Thanks for the feedback and ideas. I will be sure add Redshift and those other app icons to the list.

As for the volume/wifi stuff, the icons that we use like those in status and action are all sorta like that with a Gradient effect it is done so it will look nice and also show up on light areas. So that is unlikely something that can be changed in this theme. Without breaking lots of things.

That being said I am in the process of planning another icon theme project that may be like what you are suggesting. I am not sure how it will turn out. I of coerce will continue to be maintain/developing this theme to full extent as well. I am in the process of porting a load of theme to gtk 3.14 so I may be a litte bit :)

Thanks again for your comments as always.

Hello Sadi. At this point, this icon theme like alot of others icon themes out right now, does not implent that trick sadly for some reason.

However I am open to it. I think I tryed to get it going in 1.0. But We need to find a batch SVG resizing script for the mimetype svgs and then how to do the icon config file for that. But it would be a nice thing to add.

At this point alot of other icons themes don't do it either some reason. Faneza and Ubuntu Mono Do though. Not sure about Nitrux. But alot of the "newer themes" don't for some reason. But I will see what I can do.
