Description: I know nearly everyone here is more talented and knowledgeable than me and that there is almost none of my own effort here, though no copyright transgressions. Here are a few elements that make a subtle and finished-looking theme with no garish colours. The file once unpacked has a 26 pixel high tiled panel background; a hybrid of clearlooks and nodoka for the gtk element; and an amended version of the New Wave border that removes the thick grey bottom border. You do have to add the panel background manually (a couple are in the folder 'Panel' inside the theme's filder once you have installed it - drag one to the panel to add it), but "this is a feature" not a bug - it allows a choice of panels and panel-placement. As it is it is still only thirty seconds of faffing to install, but apologies that my knowledge does not extend further at present. Just felt it was worth sharing this hopefully tasteful theme when the garish colours and bugs of some other themes make many of us itchy...
You will probably already have the Clearlooks engine but may also needed Nodoka, which is
sudo apt-get install gtk2-engines-nodoka on Ubuntu/Mint.Last changelog:
Made it so that the metacity and gtk elements of the theme can, after all, be installed together as a whole theme by dragging into the Appearances box as normal.
Altered the gtk portion so that the colour scheme is correct straight away and not the clearlooks default colours.
Combined the old .gtkrc-2.0 file with the theme so there is less manual effort for the user.
Improved the panel buttons, made from a transparent pixmap in the Moomex theme on this site.
8th Oct '11: new rounder panel buttons, different colour window border buttons
