It points Konqueror to devices:/.

To install:
Copy the shortcut file "This Computer" to your Desktop.

@leinir

This seems to really make you angry, sorry I expressed my opinion...

Bad naming, I must say. I would call it Komputer, it goes fine with the tradition of naming in KDE in all its aspects - but, still, I don't like making anything out of *nix tradition, home is enough for me ;).

This would, of course, keep with the silly idea that all programs in KDE are called something with a K. But sure, that would make as much sense as all the programs in Windows being called WinSuchandsuch and GNOME programs being called GnoThingie and Mac OS programs being called MacStuff... But of course, those exist, so let's just do that in stead of being inventive... Thanks for your time, and sorry for that rant, I just think it's silly that I have to keep pointing it out ;)

Seriously, some KDE program names are really ugly and not very creative.

KRec? Why not KRecorder or Rekord?
KAudioCreator? Why not KDE Audio Ripper or krip?
KSirTet?

The creative ones Some come from non-English words that I don't know what they mean - noatun and kopete!

O wait I know. It's noatun because "knows-a-ton" about causing segmentation faults!

I just noticed, the icon it's asking for is mycomputer, which doesn't exist. The icon kcmsystem (which I suspect is the same icon) does, and on all systems (and most icon sets) ;) And thanks for the kudos :)

Why is it as bad rated ?

It's a good work because users also want to access theire devices.
And perhapse they don't want to see a lot of icons on theire desktop !

It's a good work to group all devices in a simple icon / window.

BUT, I have one problem :
Why "*My* Computer" ??
It's a windows terme.
KDE do not append "My " in all it's paths...
Not "My home" but "Home.
Not "My documents" but "Documents".
Not "My images" but "Images"...
It's even worth for a computer : in a multi-user environment the computer is for all users : not only "Me". Think in a society or a university : the computers are not mines :-)

So GNOME is well : "Computer" : as easily. And it allow to browse folders with keyboard : if all files / folders begin with "My" it's a nighmare !

So, please rename to "Computer".

Well, it does reffer to the computer it's running on, so maybe This Computer? As opposed to any remote computer you might connect to?

this really reminded me how ugly KDE names devices, we could have a semi-decent centric area for playing with removeable devices here, but the ugly naming scheme kills this...

You mean like devices:devfd0mntfloppy? Or how about devices:devhddmntcdrom? I wonder why it can't just use the path of the special file within the device directory, so devices:fd0 or devices:hdd. But this would surely make too much sense. The only potential problem would be if there were too fstab entries for the same device - but I don't know if this is even allowed!
