Description:

Schafkopf is a popular Bavarian card game. It is also know as Sheepshead in parts of the USA. SchafKopf is a KDE version of this game. SchafKopf is freely available under the GPL.

It has an easy to use GUI, a custom Bavarian Card Deck, an advanced AI, a network mode and much more ... as soon as we finished it.

Is there any plan to port Schafkopf 0.7 to KDE 4 or make to work with GTK, please?

I can't install on my Linux, KDE 3 is to old.

schafkopf-0.7 # ./configure

Please check whether you installed KDE correctly.

Wanted to try this as my wife used to play a lot of Sheepshead in Milwaukee WI. It's a well known game there. But YAST said I need libkdnssd.so.1 - which is part of KDE base for 3.4??? Do I really need it? Where do I get it - nothing recognizable to this newbie after doing a google search.

It apparently requires a version of kde that isn't kde 3.4.

I have no problems here compiling it with KDE 3.4. What's the error message?

The possibility of the background image is really cool, and I enjoy the key bindings you've added.

First of all, thanks a lot for this game. I never was playing games on the computer, but currently I play at least 20' with your famous game. Great fun, yes!

I'd like to add some notes. First, I didn't know the variation

Well, Dachs... - I think am not allowed to comment on this matter ;-).

Bettel is still missing right (ramsch as well). Those two will be added pretty late, once the AI for the normal games is finished, as bettel and ramsch require a different playing and therefore a different AI.

Hi,

first of all a really big THANK YOU to bring this traditional game on the linux desktop.

What does AI mean? Algorithmic intelligence? Algorithm interface?

Anyway, I installed 0.5 and it's really great!

Still, the algorithms do unusual things. If you're interested, I'll collect some misbehaviours over some days or weeks and send it to you. Let me know.

One example: Player three decides to play a solo, but instead of playing trumps, 'he' plays colours and looses.

Good for me because so I'm winning together with my two Co-players ;-) .

AI stands for artificial intelligence (KI in German).

I noticed the same problem with this version. If the computer plays a game, he should start playing trump much earlier. We will work on this problem.

Haven't played Schafkopf for years, but it's really great to download, compile and play it after work ;-) .

Yes, real fun!

If possible please include the original bavarian deck in the default package.

We would of course like to include the original card deck, but I do not think this is possible because of copyright issues :-(.

If someone can create a better bavarian carddeck we will of course like to include it as well :-).

Thank you for this great game. I really enjoyed it. But- yes, here is the difficult part - could you perhaps add real Bavarian cards?
I would really appreciate that.

I could play Doppelkopf as well ;-)
But seriously, there are similarities between those two games, but Doppelkopf is more complicated ... (IMHO)

maybe it's possible to support plugins for different card games in the future :).

But let us get schafkopf finished before we talk about this stuff ;).

there are thousand rules. You usually havbe to agree on the rules first.

Schafkopf is played with German card.
Doppelkopf with french cards.
