With the new setup in Mandrake 10 this theme ( which is one of my absolute favourites ) cannot be installed since it has NO....Theme.rc ....script. I have no programming knowledge so would not be able to write one. Could you please update it for us so we can use your beautiful SplashScreen again ?????

Thanks in anticipation. John.

Follow the instructions and put a directory called K-D-E-Splash-Transparent inside of Themes.

Then save the following lines to a file called Theme.rc in that directory.

-------------cut----------
#
# K-D-E-Splash-Transparent KSplash/ML Theme
#

[KSplash Theme: K-D-E-Splash-Transparent]
Name = transparent KDE Splash Theme
Description = Load K-D-E-Splash-Transparent KDE KSplash theme.
Version = 1.0
Author = Thomas Cherouny
Homepage = http://cherouny.deviantart.com

# Theme behavior settings.
Engine = Default

# Should icons blink ala KDE, or not?
Icons Flashing = true

# Configurable Messages. You may specify messages in as many
# languages as you prefer. Messages may be copied verbatim from
# this file, if you wish to maintain the default settings.
#Message1 = Please wait, starting KDE...
#Message1[es] = Por favor escuchar, estarto KDE...
#Message2 = Loading ...

----------------cut-----------

You should then be able to use it from your Splash Screen Configure file.

sorry about the double post,

I forgot to say that you need to extract the files here into that same directory in "pics"

I have been trying to get a custom background below the transparent image you have provided. However, it only shows a blue background. I am using gdm as my login manager. Is there a way to set the background image for ksplash?

How to install that superb splash in KDE 3.2 Control Center? Please make it compatible with this format... For you it is probably one-minute-work, for me it's black magic.

1) copy the directory with the images to "/usr/share/apps/ksplash/Themes/" and give it a nice name;

2) copy a "theme.rc" from one of the other directories (you can modify it's contents a bit if you want to);

3) make a directory in the newly created directory called "locolor" and copy the set of images into it. You can use theGimp to reduce the colors of the images because that's what this directory is for;

-you can now configure the theme by using the control panel -

4) it is also nice to make a nice screenshot of the splash -again- by using theGimp, this one should be 300px wide and named "Preview.png".

All these steps should be done as root.

I do not see this folder. Where is it? We don't have ksplash beyond the Kontrol Center splashmanager.

What you can do is make your tar.gz and open it with the control center but what you need to do is the next. Un tar the theme and then check that all images are in a folder, then copy the theme.rc into this folder... if you don have a theme.rc here i copy the content of one so create a file and copy these :
