I enjoy seeing the Mozilla Dragon, KDE's Konqui, and Tux the penguin. They make people happier and are fun to look at. They give Linux a personality of it's own and make it friendlier. I think Konqui, Tux, and even Mozilla's Dragon all look better than Microsoft's 4 color logo. Also the guy that keeps calling everyone an "ediot" chill out.

everything is look cool, but can anyone tell me how to change BACKGROUND COLOR when splash screen come up (for me, it is blue which is not look good with yellow of this pack), so that it will get along with other??

I am stilla newbie to KDE and Linux in general but I have tried to change the login screen for KDE in the Control Center, System, Login Manager, then Background. Everytime I add a picture to use I logout and the picture I chose comes up for about 2 seconds and goes away. Can someone help me out please?

I had the same problem and following fixed mine!

Edit /etc/X/xdm/Xsetup_0 (on redhat it is there) and comment out to make it look like this.

on RedHat 7.3 the file is located at: /etc/X11/xdm/Xsetup_0

KDE and linux in general need to get a more professional images, dropping the animals, Dragons, Lizards and Penguins.

Background work is nicely done though.

what is up with that? ya don't like our o.s.'s masots? go back and be a flag waver for daddy Gates then! unix,linux,bsd etc. have survived quite long having eveything from lizards, daemons, to our beloved flightless aquatic fowl Tux as thier mascots(not to menition ximian's apes). My question is this: what would YOU want to see? Personally I think this slpash set kicks MAXIMUM @$$!

Personally, I don't agree with this post. How many people in offices want to personalise their desktops simply in order to get away from the "professional" look?

Wow, it's just perfect.

Only one suggestion:
It would be cool if the edges between the background and Konqi would be a little bit smoother.

That is an excellent idea to make a coherent pack with splash screen and background for login and desktop build from the same base.
