Description:

This is a simple widget theme for those folks out there who aren't into shiny fancy 3d stuff and all that hoo-ha.

It's based loosly on fake screenshots of BeOS r6 which circulated a while back -- it was called "Gonx", so that's the basis of this style's name. The screenshots were fake, but they looked good.

Also, I based this on the excellent dotNET style. Thanks to Chris Lee!

This is a great theme! it is very elegant and easy to work with. I can't get it to work with kde 3 though... any chance of a port?

I can't get it to work either...

Sorry, I'm so wet behind the ears I have to wear a towel round my neck. I've got Mandrake 8.1, I did what the install told me to do, it all went well till it said sumthink like "x path incorrect" I have no clue what that means.

Maybe I should shoot myself...

I love this style. I just wonder why the integer edit boxes don't follow the sytle.

Hey there, I liked the look of this, so I tried it out. I did the configure/make/make install, and then went to the Mandrake Control Center and chose the Gonx style. My screen flashed, but nothing changed... ??? Any suggestions?

Zakariya here (too lazy to log in)

I use slackware, so I'm not 100% certain what could be going on. If i recall correctly, Mandrake is redhat based, right? Redhat does things... oddly. The install instructions in the README cover Mandrake installation, but I snagged them from dotNET's README.

Sounds like you have to do a
./configure --prefix=/usr or something like that.

... or you could use slack ;)

I use Mandrake 8.1. MDK puts KDE stuff in /usr rather than /opt so you need to do the --prefix=/usr when you ./configure. Other than that it works perfectly.

Hi,

it's very slick, but can you also supply the colour scheme you use, maybe including other optimised settings like the greyed out icons?

Report

I'd like the color scheme too, if possible.

Sure thing.
I'm going out of own this weekend and am rather busy at the moment, but I'm working on fixing a few details which don't work quite right, such as QMultiLineEdit and the column headers for Q/KListBox. I'm also cleaning up the code and working on making sure pixels are never drawn over twice (not that I really have that much control, but it could make the style snappier)

When I've done that, I'll repackage it as .8 and supply the color scheme.

Regarding the greyed out icons, you can do it yourself in the icons control panel -- my setting is to have all toolbar & panel icons be greyed out until mouseover. It looks pretty keen.

I'm surprised nobody's asked about my home-brewed antialiased clock applet ;)

I really like this. First i used liquid, but after a while i found it to heavy. GONX is beautiful simple. great work

this is kind of some self-promotion here, but i found the same thing about liquid, that's why i put together the pablorg patch for liquid... it's much lighter on the eye than unpatched liquid

What is that interesting appy titled "robotkit" @ the 3rd scrshot?

Robotkit is a program I've been working on for the last six months or so -- it's a generic brain of sorts for a couple robots I'm building (one's bipedal, the other is sort of spiderlike)

It's a sort of cross between a neural net with a (very) small number of smart neurons, and a more traditional emergent system. So far it's still heavily under development. That's why I took a couple evenings off to write this style.

This is lovely - particularly since it looks *nothing* *like* *Aqua* :)
