Well, if it’s the latter, it’s not that difficult:
Open the preferred icon (SVG if possible), enlarge the margin to the bottom, copy the icon and turn this copy around 180°. Then put a gradient on that „shadow“ with Transparent as ending color.
There you go.
The Shadows and reflections are part of the background, I did it in gimp.
I suppose it's cheating, but I think it's a nice enough looking effect, and i just dont move the icons.

Is it just a WP with the icons on it, or is it actual icons with reflections and all that... If so, then how the **** did u do that?
