What's the purpose of a comic reader with okular as backend? Just to have a simpler menu?

I used to use gwenview + kio-slaves in kde 3, in kde 4 it moved to okular, but okular speed
with archives/cbr/cbz is really too low, so I moved to comix (not a kde app), and it's way faster!

Because I like Okular. QComicBook has some annoyances and Comix(just tried it) has an horrible interface. And yes, Omaque is simpler. It can improve and get more features, though.

The Okular backend can see improvements in load speed. I might tackle this in the future. But it uses the same libraries the KIO Zip slave uses.

Well, or the last sentence is false or Kio Zip had some bad regression
moving to kde4.

You can test yourself : pack 50 MB of images in a zip / a rar , rename to cbz
or cbr and open it with gwenview-3.5.10 (less than 10 seconds here)
or with okular (I got a coffee waiting...)

As you can see in http://websvn.kde.org/?view=rev&revision=917041 the comicbook backend got a nice update :)

This is from kde trunk (soon to be 4.3). I am not sure if this will be backported to 4.2.

The problem is that the Okular backend opens *every* image when loading the comicbook to get the pictures sizes, which is suboptimal.

Gwenview, in KDE both 3 and 4, opens only one image. I forgot Gwenview. It is almost perfect, yes. I just have not filed some bug reports for some annoyances.

Please reply to this comment if you know the name and repository of the Korundum package for your distribution.
