Description:
Crossplatform multiprotocol cute plugin-based instant messenger
Last changelog:

More than year has passed since version 0.2 development start. This year we've faced many problems, there were hosting problems, we lacked developers (and this problem is still actual), there was an absence of designers. From time to time we had to torn between widely spread solution or black horse - so we chose between iris, known by Psi and Kopete, and gloox, who happened to be more perspective library.

qutIM is a free and perspective multiprotocol IM client. Since the version 0.1.1 core has been totally rewritten, ICQ protocol has changed significantly and was separated as the individual plugin, other protocol support has been added, so that qutIM now supports: ICQ, Jabber, MRIM, IRC, Vkontakte.

Thanks for the nice app. but i can't see anything in the choose IM protocol screen, it's just blank: http://imagebin.ca/view/x-U0oK.html

Don't forget to compile plugins-protocols:)

mnurolcay

why not all protocols getting compiled with a full source package ? may be you can add some options like WITH_JABBER etc in the main Cmake, since all plugins are in source.

mnurolcay

another odd situtation: why jabber is cmake other plugins are qmake? All must be same compiler and for full source, all plugins can be installed with just one compile ( may be optional but must be possible ). Useless for packaging this way...

The reason of both "problems" is that plugins are not a part of a core. They have different svn reps and usualy are developed by different people. I think that it is the most flexible decision. Just look at situation that there would be a lot of realizations of icq, like Miranda has. Why Jabber uses cmake but another plugins not? Because it is hard to use 3d-party libs like zlib and gnutls with qmake. But it is easer to create project for qt as a pro project. So Jabber, KDENotification and other not Qt-only plugins are using cmake, but more simple ones are using qmake.

Where can I get the KDENotifications plugin?

A perfect ICQ client. It would be very nice to be able to detect invisible users like Miranda does: http://addons.miranda-im.org/details.php?action=viewfile&id=3705

This is really the best Qt4 application and the best ICQ client! Thank you very much for this work!

Really amazing application!!! Would be perfect, if the history was compatible with kopete. I always join the kopete historys (manually ;) ), when I'm on different machines, so there's a pretty complete chat history in kopete on my machine. Qutim would become my prefered icq application, if this worked. Is there a away? But really, this app rocks! Looking foreward to Version 0.2

Thank you, very much! This program is most usable ICQ client in Linux, which i can found! I hope, you don't stop develop it! Where i can found official web site for you program or some FAQ? I have some question (for example: how add smiles to program?).

DZhon

If you want add smileys. Just use it from kopete, for example - QIP`s animated smiles. You need to create folder "emoticons" near you executable file of qutIM and place folder with smiles into it: dzhon@localhost ~/Desktop/qutIM $ ls -R emoticons emoticons: QIP emoticons/QIP: aa.gif ac.gif ae.gif ag.gif ai.gif ak.gif am.gif ao.gif aq.gif as.gif au.gif aw.gif ay.gif ba.gif bc.gif be.gif bg.gif bi.gif bk.gif bm.gif bo.gif bq.gif bs.gif bu.gif bw.gif ab.gif ad.gif af.gif ah.gif aj.gif al.gif an.gif ap.gif ar.gif at.gif av.gif ax.gif az.gif bb.gif bd.gif bf.gif bh.gif bj.gif bl.gif bn.gif bp.gif br.gif bt.gif bv.gif emoticons.xml After this, you can choose emoticons theme ih settings. Awesome software ! Good luck to authors !

This is the first icq client that works and looks nice! Just a litte wish list: -show xStatuses in tray -have some controls (show/hide offline, etc) on toolbar. It`s annoying to open settings each time i want to show offline buddies -unfortunately i did`t found any smyley :( -show xStatus text in the contact`s popup label -detect more remote clients (miranda is not detected) -when resizing the chat window, splitter remains at the middle of it. Please make the input area fixed size

my congratulations. very good! i found two simple bugs: - systray tooltip must be htmled...but i see only html tags ) - first clicking on any item in visibility list reorders list by name(?) keep good work
