Description:

***Beta version for AutomatiK_nvidia_beta. Please give me your feedback***

AutomatiK scans your hardware and automatically adapts the conky theme : You don't have to open the conky file and change it to you system.
It detects :
- Your language (English, French, German, Portugese, Italian, Japanese, and more to come) and translates everything when needed
-Your distribution
- Your GPU (Nvidia)
- Your number of CPUS
- The speed of each CPU
- The correct temperature of the CPU (that's an issue for most conky theme)
- All your mounted drives (and relevant information)
- All your active network interfaces
The widgets can be moved around the desktop with a 'Alt'+click

Please install :
-conky-all
- lm_sensors (or lm-sensors when possible)
-lshw

*-*-* Please give me updates if something does not work well, improvements, suggestions, ... *-*-*
Automatik has been tested on many distro
Just download it, extract it, click on 'start' and it fits your system

Hi,
I am sorry to see that I broke something with a fix.
CPU
In a terminal, when you go into the Automatik directory and type "python cpu01.py" , does the cpu window disappear and show up ?

DISK
In a terminal, what is the output of "df -Th" ?
Thanks

CPU :
I did not manage to reproduce the error (I have an AMD processor )
Could you open the file cpu01.py and replace "int" with "float" and tell me how is works ?
CPUTemp=int(CPUTemp)/10 becomes CPUTemp=float(CPUTemp)/10

Report

peerwal

2 years ago

No, sorry, doesn't work either. The funny thing is, with one of the versions I tried before, the cpu window was in in German and the temperature was displayed correctly. Only the cpu graphs did not work right. Unfortunately, i did not keep this one. Aslo, there was a version with a new tear-off calender design, which I can't find anymore.

Did you change both lines ?
"CPUCore=float(CPUCore)/10"

and

"CPUTemp=float(CPUTemp)/10"

Yes, i changed both of them but it didn't fix it.

What value do you get with :

sensors | grep -i core | awk '!/-/' | awk '{ print $3}' | sort -r | head -n 1 | sed 's/[^0-9]*//g'

It gives me '440'
By the way, I founf a fix for my disk window not displaying the sda1 data: In the file 'disk01.py' I changed the 'tail' expressions from 'tail -n +2' to'tail -n +1'. Now it displays both sda1 and sdb1 as well as my fritznas drive.

In case you're interested, I've created a bitbucket repository where I'm tracking your changes. If there's any issue with this, please let me know and I'll pull it.

https://bitbucket.org/jgindin/automatik

I have a few fixes:
1. I was getting an error on startup, which is fixed with this: https://bitbucket.org/jgindin/automatik/commits/9d58137ca8dcdcbdd4e6318a99455d9fa0adb8d5?at=fixes;

2. I noticed that one of my mount points wasn't showing up in the Disk Usage and that many unnecessary mount points were showing up, which I fixed with this: https://bitbucket.org/jgindin/automatik/commits/61ad568f640a2028e61ae3adc3319ca6c5910699?at=fixes

Thanks for an *awesome* setup!

Thanks a lot for your support !
It seems you are a bash guru.
That's a lot of help that you find bugs and debug them.
I was not aware of the help bitbucket could bring.

I'll take a close look at the fixes you propose to see if that works on my (and everybody) system as well.
I guess the disk01 might need some rewrite.

Cheers
Fabien

Hello, couple of things not working for me on opensuse Leap 42.2. The alt click does not work for me, and there are no color bars on the memory or disk usage but the cpu bars are fine.

Hello,
I tried Suse in Virtualbox (I have opensuse tumbleweed)
The Alt-click does work either, but that's related to kde and/or Suse.
You might have a look at :
https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/507545-Tumbleweed-Cannot-disable-ALT-move-windows-after-upgrading-to-KDE-4-14-8

The color bars work on my computer on virtualbox.
- Could you go into the Automatik directory and give me the 3 output of : (remove the double-quotes)
"cat cpufile | grep gradbar"
"cat memfile | grep gradbar"
"cat diskfile | grep gradbar"

Now for my wish list :) Can you come up with a simple way to move all the windows over to 2nd monitor in a dual display? And this is I think another KDE problem, the display appears in all desktops and activities. Would be nice to confine to a single Desktop/screen/activity.

You might try to add "ximerama_head 0" or "ximerama_head 1" near the top of the file called header.py.
I do not have multi screen : I cannot try
Let me know if this works

Report

Report

Ok the problem lies in the tear off and month calendar versions. The original version works correctly. I can confirm that the alt+click is confined to KDE plasma5, it works in LXDE

Thanks for debugging. You are right. I left a bug in the month and tear_off version.
The corrected versions are now updating.
