Description:

Afflatus 3.26.1 - A GTK / Gnome-Shell theme.

Installation:

NOTE: You must have the user themes extension enabled. This can be done easily with Gnome-Tweak-Tool.

Unzip afflatus-master.zip and copy the afflatus-master folder to /home/yourusername/.themes *or else* /usr/share/themes

Tips: Use Gnome-Tweak-Tool to change both your GTK and Shell themes. Seems to have funny issues after first setting the theme (e.g. red checkboxes), these go away after reboot.

What's Next?
I would like to create new color variations, please let me know what you would like to see!

Credits:
The GTK theme is based on Materia, so we owe thanks to nana-4 and the other contributors.
The Gnome-Shell theme is based on Adwaita, so we owe thanks to the Gnome project for that and of course for Gnome itself :)

Thanks! I will get to the dark variant after fixing the issues with Pantheon, Cinnamon and XFCE as requested by other users. I figure on adding these improvements and the dark variant in the 3.26.2 release. Stay tuned.

I've noticed a few problems with this theme. In Xfce, the Xfwm theme doesn't look correct, and the panel is pure white. The theme is perfect otherwise.

I will certainly fix those issues and more in the 3.26.2 release, stay tuned!

Thank you! I will look into it as soon as I get some time to spend setting up and testing virtual machines for various distros. I only use Arch and Gnome 3 on Wayland so there is no real easy way for me to check legacy support other than VM, but I promise I will get to Mint as well as Elementary OS, as requested in another comment, soon.

Nice theme! Great to see something besides a MacOS clone!! Linux needs more unique themes like this to make it appealing to the masses.

One of the most beautiful GTK theme I've seen till now. With a little more polish it can be the best.

Gave the shell theme a bit more polish. Fixed the volume slider, some rounded borders in the applications overview and a few colors out of place here and there and it looks more consistent now. My next step is to rebase the GTK theme on the current version of Materia instead of the old clone of flat-plat that I used.

Great work. When I use it on Elementary OS the top Panel (wingpanel) does not show text correctly. It usually shows bold white text with a slight shadow with other GTK themes. Would be really great if that could be fixed.

I'll look into it.. not sure if I can get pantheon to work correctly on Arch or not.. but I'll try VM if not. Stay tuned.

I haven't used gnome in a long, long time. How do you get the bar across the bottom like that in the first screenshot?

That looks like the "Dash to Panel" extension. The new Ubuntu uses a specially configured version of a similar extension called "Dash to Dock". I'd recommend Dash to Panel if you like something that resembles Windows or KDE. I'd recommend Dash to Dock to get something similar to the macOS dock (Dash to Dock can also be a panel if you want it to.)

(If you use Dash to Panel on the new Ubuntu, you will probably need the extension to disable Ubuntu Dock, and make sure both Ubuntu Dock and Dash to Dock are disabled on the Extensions pane of the Tweaks tool.)

Changed versioning system and made some refinements to the shell theme.

Fixed issue with shell theme, which cropped up in Gnome 3.26, that resulted in the default panel.solid color (black) taking over the panel when a window was full screen or near the panel.

Fixed issue with shell theme that resulted in the default panel.solid color (black) taking over the panel when a window was full screen or near the panel.

Added borders to shell menus so that they don't blend into gtk+ elements like headerbars. This made the theme look much nicer with the default Gnome-Shell desktop setup.

0.2 2 months ago

Removed transparency from shell theme. This results in the panel and menus better matching the window headers and improves readability in the menus.
