Description:

For KDE Plasma only!
Chili is hot, just like a real chili! Spice up the login experience of your users, your family and yourself. Chili reduces all the clutter and leaves you with a clean, easy to use, login interface with a modern yet classy touch.

Chili for KDE Plasma is the desktop environment specific version with enhanced functionality . If you don't use Plasma as your desktop environment this theme won't work and you should instead install Chili for stand-alone SDDM.

Chili for KDE Plasma is highly customizable through its config file! You can alter the intensity of the background blur or even not have any blur at all! Have a custom password character or set the field to outline only. Things look too small on your screen? Change sizes to something that better suits your resolution! Don't like the circle? Use a custom PNG with transparency for your avatar! See the file or the Github README for details. You have an idea for an awesome feature? Comment your request on Github.

Please share some love and pling this theme if you're a supporter or up vote if you like this theme! You can become a supporter of opendesktop and the people who create content for your linux desktop for a one time donation for a full year. Your donation will help and encourage a lot of people to create new decorations, icons, themes and keep them maintained.

Let's help each other and get away from closed source enterprise driven content that gets dumped and unsupported after six months.
Let's make Linux popular!

Also be sure to check out my window decorations and folder icons that surely will fit well with your new login screen.

Install

"System Settings > Startup and Shutdown > Login Screen (SDDM) > Get New Theme".
To access this setting the sddm-kcm package has to be installed. If in doubt use your package manager to search and if necessary install sddm-kcm first.
The background can be changed to anything you want on the right hand side in "System Settings > Startup and Shutdown > Login Screen (SDDM)". Select the large green button next to "Background:"

Enjoy!

Notes

You might see some grey pixels around your user image which is caused by the the anti-aliasing of the opacity mask. You may change the fill color of the mask that resides in "components/artwork/mask.svg" to a color that better matches with your user images colors. Do not change the opacity of the mask. Take note that this might affect other user images with different colors present on your system.
To use a PNG file with transparency as your .face file please set the corresponding option UsePngInsteadOfMask in the config to true.

A word on my own

In the past years I have spent quite some hours on open source projects. If you are the type of person who digs attention to detail, know how much work is involved in it and/or simply likes to support makers with a coffee or a beer I would greatly appreciate your donation on my PayPayl account.

Hi. I just installed it from the inbuilt selection in Kubuntu 18.04. And now I got a black screen. I notice that you commented about a black screen - but seems like I was served an older version. How do I get past that black screen?

Hello turboteddy sorry for the late reply. Usually these types of bugs are upstream. SDDM has some serious issues and the development seems somewhat stalled. Please refer to their Github for a lot of bugs. As to work around the black screen you could access your system as root on a different tty and unset the theme in sddm.conf. Please refer to the Arch wiki on SDDM for where this file can be found.

It looks awsome, one cuestion... Would this work on manjaro kde, I mean manjaro has the kde desktop but if I set it there would this login theme work fine or does it have to be pure kde?

As long as the KDE desktop environment is installed on your system it doesn't matter if you actually login with XFCE or Gnome or w/e else. This theme requires KDE because it does some calls to its API. But the actual OS, the linux distro on which you are should not matter. Usually any bugs encountered are mostly upstream, which means more serious problems in SDDM itself.

+How do you custom your sddm that way? I love it. Your job is awesome!! You should do a guide, wiki or something to let others follow your steps. Every sddm theme should be that customizable!

Thank you so much for your kind words Neules. Actually it's really easy to customize things through the config. It's just using variables as values for a very visual language which is QML. I maybe might do a tut one day, who knows ;)

The prettiest login theme I've seen, but I have a problem... it works just fine when I start the computer, but when I suspend my PC and then come back, it appears the regular KDE login screen.

Hello pedror thank you for the love. The behavior you are mentioning is not a "problem" but rather a misunderstanding of how KDE works. Let me explain:
The login theme you can download via system settings is a customization of a program called SDDM, which is completely independent of any desktop environment (which is KDE). The themes here on opendesktop or other platforms are specifically programmed for this program/application/software or whatever you want to call it (SDDM).

When you suspend your PC the KDE Plasma desktop environment calls a programm called KScreenlocker which forms part of the KDE desktop environment itself. This program (at least for the moment) has no means of customization through theming. It can be hard coded by reprogramming system files of the KDE suite but it will be overwritten any time you update your desktop environment.

I understand the inconvenience this causes because I too and other users before would love to unify the lockscreen with the login theme. For the moment I have to tell you that I'm sorry this is not possible as of now.

I hope this was of help and you still enjoy theming your Simple Desktop Display Manager (SDDM). Have fun!

+I just registered to tell you this is FANTASTIC!! Thanks for your work!! I'm on Debian Buster, and it worked out of the box. Installed through Plasma Addons. I hope you will maintain it, and if in the future it broke you fix it. Keep up your good excellent work!
