Dual Lingual: English and German
Dual Keyboard: English (US) and German (Swiss - no dead keys)
Kernel: 4.15.0-39

4CLIX = 4 Cs of Linux = Compiz Window Manager, Cairo Dock, Conky Monitor, Cardapio Menu and
the Classic Gnome-Look: Gnome Flashback with Gnome Panel

The aim is to bring back some of the older applications, like knetload, d4x, download-monitor, awn-dock,
emerald, compiz-8, etc. which we used to favour and which had disappeared from the apt lists.
Some tweaking made it possible to install and run them again

This system is packed with applications:
Thunderbird, Libre-Office, Calibre, Gimp, DVD Styler,
Audacity, VLC, Hydrogen Sequencer, Rosa Player,
Clementine, ClamTK AntiVirus, Wine
It uses mainly Gnome applications but includes a few KDE applications:
k3b, krecipes, kstars, k4dirstat, kalzium periodic tables, kkbswitch, knemo, kmouth;
also some Xfce contributions: xfce4-mixer, -taskmanager,
xfwm4 window manager, xscreensaver
And from Mate we have: pluma, nemo, marco themes (metacity)
Most codecs, 'un-free' plugins, java, flashplayer, lame, mp3, etc. are provided

There are many choices that can be enabled/disabled in Startup Applications, or
changed in Ubuntu-Tweak or from Fusion Icon
Three Window Managers: Compiz, Metacity & Xfwm4 (+ decorator)
Two Compiz Window Decorators and
their selectors: Metacity/Marco, Emerald (Beryl)
Three Docks: Cairo-Dock (for good graphics cards),
Avant Window Navigator (AWN), Plank (simple)

Web Applications: Two Web Browsers: Firefox, Konqueror,
Transmission, qBitTorrent, Frostwire, uGet Downloader,
Google Earth, Wifi-Guard and -Radar,
Gpredict (satellite Predictor), NetActivity Viewer and more

The general theme is dark and towards red rather than blue; hence more relaxing.
General colours are Olive green, Wine purple and Saffron orange text
Compiz looks after smooth movements and adds a touch of eye candy and wow.
Gnome Panel hosts a few monitors, menus and power tools e.g forcekill,
CD-eject, terminal, task-manager, etc.

We have an assortment of small GKrellM system monitor widgets
that can be superimposed on gnome panel
There is a better calendar/clock with orage (for tasks and appointments),
a CPU and a GPU temperature indicator, Netload Graph, etc.
There are also various screenlets, clock and clear calendar are already configured,
and Gis-Weather, a desktop forecast application

A 33 page pdf Manual was especially written to explain what is there
PS superseded by the manual on this site and within the root of the ISO
It includes links to files and folders on the system and links to websites
There is also a Development-Log pdf showing all installations, updates and
tweaks done to the original Ubuntu OS and what had been removed from it

Thanks go to the countless developers whose software had been included.
Your work is well appreciated. Good on You All!!

This OS still needs testing. Please let me know of any flaws. Help is appreciated.

Known issues:
When running this system on an USB drive, on fast 120 Hz + machines,
Compiz may play up as it is the chosen window-manager enabled at startup.
It can be set to metacity or Xfwm4 from Fusion icon
But once this OS is installed the "Rate" can be set from Fusion Icon >
Compiz Settings > General > General Options > Display Settings >
Refresh Rate (50, 60, 75, 120, 144, ...) and Compiz will work smoothly!

Neither virtualbox nor USB boot can show the full potential of this system
It needs to be installed to run smoothly.
For UEFI installation we need gpt partitioning and
starting USB drive in UEFI Mode
For legacy BIOS installation we need the MBR partition table and
starting USB drive in USB Mode

4CLIX-G.9.15.09.amd64.iso New version 2018-11-05 1 month ago

Nautilus has been slow. This may be due to add-ons; so removed the following packages:
nautilus-columns, nautilus-compare, nautilus-script-audio-convert, nautilus-sendto, nautilus-share, nautilus-wipe
Users can re-install add-ons if they wish to

Added updated repository for Canon Printers and Scanners, Canon IJ Printer, ScanGear MP Drivers
ppa:thierry-f/fork-michael-gruz; Launchpad PPA for Thierry HUCHARD
For 32 bit printers users can install cnijfilter for their model and swap cndrvcups-common for cndrvcups-common:i386

All packages updated as of 2018-11-03

4CLIX-G.9.15.07.amd64.iso New version 2018-10-27 1 month ago

alsa-store, CD Eject, Clear History, Dconf Backup, Compiz Backup
Increased size of Zenity pop-up
Adjusted window width by adding window width to command

If gnome-flashback packages get replaced through updating
It will change session files:
gnome-flashback compiz and gnome-flashback metacity
which had been changed as we use application startups to determine session
This would cause double start of nemo and compiz
Created new session: Gnome-Flashback-Neutral
Created files:
/usr/lib/gnome-flashback/gnome-flashback-neutral
/usr/share/gnome-session/sessions/gnome-flashback-neutral.session
/usr/share/xsessions/gnome-flashback-neutral.desktop
Session is now set to GNOME Flashback (Neutral)
Removed session menu in Lightdm login window

QT applications can appear too big; so in ~/.profile added line:
export QT_AUTO_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTOR=0
See development log for changes and details
