I found a problem. it seems that it automatically brings up the accessibility onscreen keyboard which takes up all of the screen and nothing else can be seen, when i remove it by pressing esc, if I click on a text field the keyboard comes back.
You need to edit /etc/sddm.conf. Under the [General] section, change 'InputMethod=qtvirtualkeyboard' to 'InputMethod='.

it seems that the fix was that I have to make a new .conf file with a name of my choosing and text you specified and put it inside /etc/sddm.conf.d/ directory
