Very nice clean theme, clearlooks really is the one true theme engine :-). Good job, and dark themes are really hard to get right, but I think you did a good job with yours. Have you thought of submitting your themes for the hardy theme proposal? It may not be super shiny, but it's usable and still stays true to the color scheme to a degree (without being a giant brown and orange swirl). - Mar 14 2008

But it would be really nice if you included a screenshot of the widget factory so people have a better idea of what your theme is about.

Since i have no idea what distro you're using i'll just let you know the widget factory comes in the package (in ubuntu and debian) thewidgetfactory (surprise surprise) and you have to run it from the terminal, just use the command "twf", it doesn't need any options or anything, I personally got sick of popping open an *extra* terminal just to launch the widget factory so i created a launcher on my desktop to launch it. - Mar 10 2008

Honestly when I first saw the mockups for the Gelatin theme I was pretty skeptical, but using what you've created changed my mind, it's really pretty cool and DEFINITELY would be a vast improvement over the current ubuntu theme. (I can't help but wonder though if there's a way to eliminate the need for the pixmap engine. I guess on the menu items it'd be necessary, but certainly the scrollbars could be converted to a "real" theme, maybe the answer is for someone to write a svg theme engine...) - Jan 29 2008

Very nice, but it would be even nicer if the preview image was bigger than a postage stamp :-)

As for resolution, i'm a widescreen user, 1920x1200. Maybe if you could crop the original to something of that aspect ratio 16:10 isn't it? and then scale it? (of course... that's only if you want to lol) - Jan 26 2008

First of all this is awesome, it's a really good dark theme, which I'm always looking out for, but what about a blue-ish version? In my opinion dark themes always look best with some sort of blue... just my opinion though lol. - Jan 24 2008

Hey I noticed the little "bow tie" effect you have going, if you didn't already know, it's because the widgets are too round for their size. I'm pretty sure you can hand specify the roundness for individual widgets (like scrollbars) by adding

engine "murrine"
roundness: 3;

or something similar to the scrollbar portion of the gtkrc.

Really I think the theme engine should cap the roundness so that this sort of thing doesn't happen, but whatever... - Jan 23 2008

Wouldn't it just be better to run

gksudo nautilus

That way you don't have your root password stored somewhere, and it will prompt you when you want to do it, i dunno, just my two cents. - Jan 15 2008

Worked fine for me, I think the key is you have to have the libgtk2.0-dev package installed. (For future reference <whatever>-dev packages are development packages, you need them for compiling) - Jan 14 2008

Cool, good to see you're addressing those complaints, a couple comments though, first of all there's ALOT of wasted space around the horizontal separator, which I think would produce more benefits.

Second the button on the button on the list entry box got squished and I don't think it looks as good that way.

Finally I think the biggest complaints are the oversized buttons, i'd love to see if you could get those smaller too. (in the second screenshot you can tell the font of the list entry is smaller, but then there's alot of wasted space vertically)

Anywho good job, lets see some more. - Jan 10 2008
There have been alot of complaints about Gtk+'s alleged wasting of space, also you could have said "i don't see the point" without being a dick... - Jan 10 2008

Thanks a lot! I like the one you did (with the logo centered) just fine, if i still had hosting i'd donate some bandwidth, but alas... lol. Anyways great work. - Jan 07 2008
I'd definitely use this theme but i've made a point to only use 1920x1200 wallpapers (my native res), it'd be awesome if you released a few different versions of these (if you can) for people with different resolutions, very nice work. - Jan 05 2008

Very cool, I'm so glad to see non-pixmap themes floating around, and if I had one (hopefully constructive) criticizm it's that it'd be cool to see more variation between the color variants besides the prelight color, like you could tint the bg[] colors slightly "in the direction of" the prelight color, in other words, make the theme with the green prelight have more green in it, and the same for the remainder of the themes. Great work though, cheers. - Dec 31 2007

I love seeing dark themes out there, and I really like yours, but I have to say, I'm a big fan of blue. I'd love to see this with more blue instead of green, also I don't know if everyone agrees with me, but for me the magic number for "roundness" is 3, anything more looks funny. I can't quite tell from the screenshot but you might actually have it on 3 already. Anyways keep up the great work. - Dec 31 2007
