Ofc, you can use it for your videos. What kind of videos are you creating? - Mar 05 2010
Hm I think I'll leave it the way it is - it's a light version, not a second dark version :)

No problem. - Jun 07 2009
Okay here it goes:

To make your Panel background transparent open /home/you/.themes/CT-gtk-light/panel.rc - go to line 8. Thats what you'll find:

bg_pixmap[NORMAL] = "Panel/panel-bg.png"
bg_pixmap[SELECTED] = "Panel/panel-bg.png"
bg_pixmap[INSENSITIVE] = "Panel/panel-bg.png"
bg_pixmap[PRELIGHT] = "Panel/panel-bg.png"
bg_pixmap[ACTIVE] = "Panel/panel-bg.png"

What you see here are the panel backgrounds for the different panel situations. You see that the current panel bg is 'Panel/panel-bg.png'.
You just have to change 'Panel/panel-bg.png' to 'Panel/panel-bg3.png'. Then open terminal and type: 'killall -9 gnome-panel'. Now your current panel bg should be the transparent one.

Alternative way:

Open CompizConfig SettingsManager and search "Opacity, Brightness and Saturation" settings - open these. Now you have add a new field in the 'windo specific settings'. Type "(name=gnome-panel)" into the "windows-field" and chose your window value. 100 is no transparency and 0 is full trancparency.

To make your menus transparent add again a new setting and type "PopupMenu | DropdownMenu | (type=Menu)" into the "windows"-field. After this chose your window values.

Works fine for me - tell me if you have problems. - Jun 06 2009
Hm, strange. I've no idea.. I'll search for a solution - maybe also someone who reads this has an idea?! - Jun 06 2009
I didn't change the background of the active tabs - I really like them the way they are. Any other suggestions? I hope the light version isn't to dark now!? Your opinion? - Jun 06 2009
Oh I forgott to talk about tabs.

Hm I like them the way they are but I'll make a try and see how it looks like. - Jun 06 2009
No problem.

> "I think since you have a darker panel (which I like a lot) than themes like Shiki-colors, that the metacity doesn't have to be as quite as light as you made it (Although it could be made to look nice as is)."

>> No, it's not done to look nice as is. :D I'd call the lighter version a kind of beta - I think it was 1:00AM here in germany when I made it - this morning I took a look and thought 'wtf!? - this is too light' :D

> "If you want to keep the current shade I think the menu font needs to be lighter, but I'm not sure you could accomplish this in Firefox without the Firefox CSS "hack" unless you changed the main menu background to white - you probably know more about this limitation than me. You might not want to go that route because of that issue."

>> Hm, yes, how I said, don't want to keep current shade.

> "Also, the gradient for the menu bar background strikes me as odd - I think maybe it should be more subtle or gradual...but I'm not really sure. I suppose I should whip out Gimp myself and experiment... :) I might get time later."

>> I already thought about the gradient - maybe I'll change the color to black and do some small changes. You'll see in the next version. Feel free to do it :)

So here my new todo list:

- make light version a bit darker
- change menubar gradient - Jun 06 2009
> "If you want to change the panel bg go to "~/CT-gtk/gtk-2.0/" and open "panel.rc" ---> I can not found it in my /home/username ???? where is it ? I can't find it everywhere."

>> This depends on the way you've installed the theme - the folder should be found in '/usr/share/themes' or '/home/yourusername/.themes/' - note: you have to be root to make changes in /usr/share/themes/. You know that there are different versions of the theme now - you have to go to the folder of the theme that you're using and make the changes there.

> "fyi: I installed the light one, to make my top panel not too black, is it correct ?"

>> No ;D the light one just makes metacity and menus more light - But I think the current panel background isn't too dark at all. - Jun 06 2009
What would I do without you.. :S Thx :) - Jun 05 2009
Okay - I understand what you mean. I've added a lighter version - you can use this as start and maybe make it darker/lighter yourself if you want to - I also just used GIMP and changed brightness and saturation of the metacity theme and the menu(bar). - Jun 05 2009
Okay, first of all, thanks for your feedback.

> "-It is hard to distinguish the active tab in Firefox from the others."

>> I also have a problem with the tabs - I already reworked them but it seems like I have to do it again.

> "-I think there needs to be more separation (maybe color or contrast-wise) between the metacity and the panel."

>> Sorry but why do you care about separation of panel and metacity? :P

> "-Related to the above, the dark black of the Metacity makes it so that I cannot see the gradient except from a sharp angle on my screen. I would suggest lightening it up a little. Some darker themes that seem to handle this well are Shiki-colors and New Wave.

Maybe you could make a lighter version for testing?"

>> Interesting thing - maybe there will be a lighter version, maybe a complete new metacity theme or maybe both - I've to think about. But what ever it will be, it will be lighter.

So here's my todo list:

- rework active Tabs
- spend some time with metacity themes :)
- seperation of metacity and panel? Maybe not - I'm waiting for good arguments/suggestions from your side :P - Jun 05 2009
Installing 'gtk2-engines-pixbuf' should fix it. - Jun 05 2009
If you use ubuntu try this:

apt-cache search gtk2-engines - don't exactly know in which package the engine is in - I'll ask google.. - Jun 05 2009
-> engine "pixmap"

This is what the config told me. - Jun 05 2009
To hear words like this is better than getting money for my work 8) - Jun 05 2009
Changed the top color and added a new transparent panel bg :) You could also make the panel transparent with compiz.

Thanks for feedback - thats what I need :) - Jun 05 2009
I'll take a look into Dust theme to see how it's done. - Jun 05 2009
Okay, there is a problem with making font color black - the black color doesn't harmonize with some menus - the text wasn't readable anymore because the background is black and the text was also black. I could only make it darker. I hope it's a bit better. - Jun 04 2009
Ahh now I know what you mean :) I'll change it in the next version. - Jun 04 2009
Thanks it's so great to see that so many people enjoy this theme.

Hm, as said - I've no time and I never tryed Openbox but I guess you've everything you need to mod it yourself!
Sorry again but I'm only a little student from near Berlin who has to do a lot for school. :( If you need any source files (*.xcf) - just say. - Jun 04 2009
Sorry but I don't really have the time to rework the theme completely - you're allowed to mod it yourself if you want to :) then I'd upload the sources. - Jun 04 2009
Thanks :)

Any critics? - Jun 03 2009
I'm using your wallpaper and it's great :P Thank you. - Jun 03 2009
Hm I don't know what you mean - I've no problems with the colors. Maybe you check your settings again!?

If you don't see anything wrong could you please take a screenshot of your problems and post it here because I've not noticed probs with evolution or nautilus yet and I also don't find any problems. - Jun 03 2009
Thanks, nice to read you like it.

*I think can leave the beta phase tomorrow - the theme is nearly useable now*

NOW would be a good moment to give some last beta feedback. :P - Jun 02 2009
Yes but don't forget that this is only a moded version of the gtk theme 'Dark Ice'- the really hard work wasn't done by me!! :P - Jun 02 2009
Thank you - I'm using it with Mashup and a selfmade panel icon which can also be found here on :) - Jun 02 2009
@ fredbird67: Thanks for your comment - after taking a closer look I was sharing your opinion. I've changed it - please tell me if you like or not but don't be disappointed because it isn't done like on Slickness. ;D

*sorry for my comment mistake above* - Jun 02 2009
@ Cidal1: OH MY GOD I'm such a stupid little boy - I had to laugh about myself over 10 minutes when I opened panel.rc and saw these lines.

Thank you very, very, very much :)

Thanks for the kind words!

I'm currently searching a solution for my panel background problem - at the moment other things have to wait.

Maybe some suggestions coming from the com?! :) - Jun 01 2009

Hey, first of all - really nice theme!
I would like to ask you if I can use this theme as base for the next version of my gtk theme CT-gtk ( I know your theme is GPL'd but I didn't want to start without your approval. - Nov 01 2009

The arrow comes from your gtk theme. If you want to remove it, go to the folder of your gtk theme and searche an image called "arrow-up" or something simular - in my theme it's called "arrow-up.png". Replace this image with a transparent image and the arrow disappears.

Maybe you enjoy this one more - it's not vista like. - May 30 2009
I really understand your opinion but this is my first experience with metacity themes - I just thought it would be a good practice to start with something like this. I don't force anyone to use it - if you suffer from vista like themes just skip this one. - May 30 2009
