...and thanks for the praise! - Jun 23 2016
originally i just changed the color scheme of some other gtk3 theme. then i went through the whole theme to give it the flat look that i want. compared to gtk2 + openbox, it was a giant pile of code to sift through.
i am also utterly p*ssed off at how gtk3 (=gnome?) devs are breaking their own stuff with every release, and how bloated it is compared to gtk2.
until this won't be feasible anymore on modern linux, i will continue to use just gtk2 and other toolkits.
i guess that answers your request. sorry for the rant, and the late reply! - Jun 23 2016
i actually agree with you and am working on it.
so keep an eye on the github repo. - Feb 21 2016

i could not get this to work.
i extracted them to ~/.fonts.
i tried the usual stuff needed for adding xfonts:
mkfontdir inside each directory, xset +fp <path> for each directory, and fc-cache -f
- they never show up in xfontsel. - Jan 29 2016

it compiled nicely on my archlinux system, but all it did was open a polish web page, and then - nothing. no error message, nothing.

whatever, it's borderline spamware. - Jan 10 2016

yes, fwiw, i had difficulties extracting all the archives of this user. i had to save them first and then extract from the file manager right click menu (extract here...).
others might have to open them with root privileges, and then make sure the files have at least read only permissions for a normal user. - Apr 28 2013

you are aware of deviantArt?
lots of steampunk stuff there. - Dec 05 2012
i'm not a fan of steampunk but this is very well done!
the gtk2 is just perfect.
just 1 thing: the dropdown menu bg, i think it should be something tileable. it's not so nice when the flower gets stretched over a large menu.

both openbox and xfwm4 themes are not so good i'd say.

also i'd choose a different icon theme - maybe Buuf-Deuce, Matrilineare or Ubo Icons...

and gtk3? - Dec 05 2012

found it!

change these lines in Acid01/gtk-2.0/gtkrc

gtk-enable-mnemonics = 1
gtk-auto-mnemonics = 1
gtk-enable-accels = 1

edit: auto-mnemonics means the underline shows only when you press alt, so setting that to "0" means the underlines show all the time.

edit2: in the menu headers the letters are underlined now but not in the menus themselves :-(
-at least in thunar and pcmanfm. in gedit the underline works inside the menus but in the headers it doesn't show because it's the same color as the horizontal line (gedit uses gtk3)

the search continues... - May 24 2012

you're quite right.
actually i don't know what happened to that; i didn't create the theme from scratch.
if anyone knows, please tell us.

...i'd like to point out this fix: http://iamfuss.deviantart.com/journal/How-to-install-artwiz-pixel-fonts-in-Ubuntu-226000883
the point is: ttf-pixelfonts usually look great in one size, but applications scale them and then they look really bad.
there's other fonts that don't get scaled or that have separate bitmaps for every scaling, old xfonts, but they are disabled by default. when you enable them you should have more fonts to choose from and when you play around with them you notice that some stay the same when you change the size, or change sizes in steps like 10, 12, 15... so those look nice and crisp even if an application attempts to scale them.
there's many xfonts in the repositories.
(you can also have a look at xfontsel - should be installed - there's even more fonts some of which again don't show up in a standard gtk font selection dialog... if someone knows why and how to get at them let me know) - Apr 18 2012

i just downloaded some 20 cursor themes to try them out, and this one wins! soft, yet precise. not too big or fancily animated, yet easy to find. minimalistic. perfect.
i'll try other colours, though. - May 06 2012

hm. i'm not using mint-fluxbox anymore but these ugly shadows seem to be part of the gtk engine in question. with gnome color chooser (this is a great customization app; the name is pure understatement!) i can play around with the engines and the ugly shadow goes away. - Apr 15 2012
hm. disabled items fonts are shadowed white which looks really horrible - is there a way to remove this, or a workaround to make it the same color as the bg?
i looked into the config and changed some stuff but didn't get anywhere.

also, radio buttons and checkboxes are minuscule, can that be changed?

otherwise, great theme! - Nov 05 2011
