I'm glad You like it :-) - Jan 07 2017
Hi there. Arbeit-Mate 16.04 was at 0.9.1 version because i thought that there may be some bugs to fix, but i've spotted none, so it can be considered version 1.0. And Arbeit-Mate 16.10 is version 1.0, because i have not spotted any bugs (and it's based on quite refined theme - Vimix).
As for downloads - at the bottom You have links both to 16.04 and 16.10 versions. The same link for 16.10 is as you have mentioned under description for 16.10 - and you're right - i should make it more clear :-) So both links for 16.10 are the same, and link for 16.04 is for those who still runs LTS version of Ubuntu-MATE. - Jan 06 2017
I'm glad You like it :-) - Jan 05 2017
Yes, it's quite possible - especially if Ubuntu-MATE 16.10 will be almost all gtk3 on gtk3.20 as promised. - Aug 19 2016

It was my mistake - i've uploaded fixed version a minute ago. Everything is in one zip file (also blue sidebar version) on DeviantArt. I've also added elementary lion emerald theme. - Aug 01 2013
Sorry, forgot to add link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/tmek1jkd2rc8nu1/blue%20sidebar.zip - Aug 01 2013
Here you go - version with light blue sidebar - more like mac os finder. - Aug 01 2013
Hi
In fact i feel the same way - light blue sidebar (more mac-ish) looks better for me. But, i try to be faithful to elementary design :-/ - Aug 01 2013
Hi. I'm glad you like my theme :-) I've tried few times to solve this problem in the past, but when i did it, nautilus view buttons were screwed up. So for now, i just don't have idea what to do. - Jun 28 2013
I'm glad you like it :-) Completely dark theme will probably be in release for gnome 3.8, but it's really a lot of work. - May 09 2013
You're welcome :-) - Apr 27 2013
From a user point of view it may look strange :-) But from a themer point of view differences between Gtk-based user interfaces are really huge. For example if you make theme for Ubuntu you have to keep in mind that there will be no menubar - because there is appmenu - so toolbar and titlebar should blend with each other. But when you design theme for Gnome-Shell there is a visible menubar - so you have to make a design where menubar and titlebar blend (or even better make menubar with nice gradient, darker bottom line dividing it from toolbar, and lighter line giving it more depth). But you can't have both - because themed menubar makes unity-panel and elementary wingpanel look somewhat strange. On the other hand, plain, not themed menubar looks really ugly in gnome shell. And that is only menubar ;-) Look at Gnome Cupertino - it's an excellent theme, but it's creator - Trastes - had to make different versions for unity, for gnome-shell with gnome 3.4, 3.6 and i think there is also different version for 3.8. And there is also xfce and pantheon which also has completely different apps and design. There was no problem when we had gnome 2, but with gnome 3 and all those different desktop environments, thaiming is just pain. - Apr 27 2013
You're welcome :-) - Nov 18 2012

;-) I was thinking if you are using version for Lynx or for Meerkat, but ok, i'll do it for every version ;-) - Mar 28 2011
Hi.

I've solved the problem -it'll now look like this http://img801.imageshack.us/i/zrzutekranuyg.png/

Only buttons you can toggle will have this, normal buttons will stay as they were.

Tell me which version of theme You are using and i'll make updated version for you :-) - Mar 28 2011
Are these buttons on toolbar? If you could make a screenshot and put it somewhere like imageshack or photobucket - i would like to be sure :-)

If they are toolbar buttons then i think i know what to do, and problem will be solved in next update. - Mar 26 2011
If you're asking about system icons - i'm using modified Macbuntu icons (included in package), but if you're asking about dock and desktop icons - they are various icons from DeviantArt. - Feb 18 2011
Hi. If your problem with synaptic toolbar is ugly looking handle and search box then there is a simple way to solve it (that was problem with my theme). Go to gtkrc file and find what is the "style" for class"GtkHandleBox" (type GtkHandleBox in search). When you find line with:

... "GtkHandleBox" style "something"

change it to

class "GtkHandleBox*" style "(here put the same style that your toolbar is using)"

make sure to put it somewhere below class "GtkToolbar".

This should do the trick.

- Jan 15 2011
Go to your user folder and press ctrl+h -> now find ".themes" folder and open it -> there you can find "Arbeit Macbuntu 1.1" folder and just delete it.

And - this is not official Macbuntu theme! "Arbeit Macbuntu" is my modification, using some graphic and icons from "Macbuntu" theme. - Jan 15 2011
Thank you :-) - Jan 14 2011
I hope you don't use wine, cedega or dosbox because it would be a blasphemy for a real linux geek ;-) Okay, okay, just kidding.

I understand your point (but it does not mean i agree with you). The thing is - OS X looks great. It's simple yet colourful GUI and people just like the way it looks.

Linux has many great themes - recent are Orta, Atolm, a bit older Elementary or Clearlooks Revamp. They are aesthetic and looks nice, but they are too minimalistic - it's all only black, white and grey. Clearlooks Revamp is a bit more colourful but event this theme was too minimalistic for my taste.

And it's not like i use only OS X themes, and i don't only make OS X themes. I am still trying to make not OS X-like theme that would not only look nice but would be REAL pleasure to work with it.

I understand that much of linux users think that theme should be hmm... how to put it - it should be minimalistic, and should not distract user during work. Yet it still should be aesthetic. Ok - i understand, but i have other priorieties. For me theme should look astonishing, when user first see a simple button he should think "hey, it looks great" and then he sees progressbar and thinks "whoaaaa" ;-) My english is too bad to express properly what i want to say, but i hope you know what i mean.

Theme is like a piece of art, and there are different tastes - one like Netherland masters like Rembrandt or Vermeer, someone else like imressionists like Renoir or Degas and so on... problem is: Linux has many masters of art - and they make nice themes - but they are all minimalists, not a single impressionist or even classicist. Of course i don't want to offend any of great linux theme designers. It's just a matter of taste, and i know, i'm much worse painter than they are, but i'm quite good art counterfeiter ;-)
- Jan 14 2011
Maybe it's a matter of murrine engine. - Jan 13 2011
Ok, i've corrected it. Now there is "Panel background" folder in the main .zip file. But you can also find panel backgrounds in "Panel" folder in "arbeit macbuntu.tar.gz" file that you have downloaded. - Nov 27 2010
Sorry, my mistake. Extract "Arbeit Macbuntu.tar.gz" there, in "Arbeit Macbuntu" folder, will be "gtk-2.0" and there will be "Panel" folder - there are backgrounds - Nov 27 2010
Hi, i've changed the refresh icon, and distributor logo. Now everything works fine :-) - Nov 27 2010
I'm working on it. For now, i just removed reload button from toolbar (right click on toolbar - there will be something like customize or personalize toolbar). There is also a bug with logo in panel, but i have managed to solve it. I hope i'll manage to change that reload icon as well. (I think i'll update theme tomorrow) - Nov 20 2010

Hi there. Dock is third party software and is not themed by gtk theme. I use AWN dock with "Iron Dock" theme <theme is on DeviantArt". And for the window buttons in the opposite side - there are two ways for fixing this:
1. You can install Ubuntu Tweak (ubuntu-tweak.com) which allows you to change many things that are not easly changeable.

2. You can go to terminal, type "gconf-editor" and configuration editor will appear. On your left will be tree -> go to: apps -> metacity -> general. On the right side will appear things you can change. Find line "button_layout" and change its valuea to "close, minimize, maximize:" and that will do the trick.

I assume you're using nautilus-elementary? If not, i really encurage you to try it. (more about it here http://www.webupd8.org/2010/09/ubuntu-1010-nautilus-elementary-ppa.html ) - Nov 07 2010

Sorry for not responding for so long, i was away froma any computer with internet connection. Well Timorei, what can i say... Great job!! :-) Bug disapeared so you rocks :-)

I have also gave a look to your modifications i mod. You're right that round entries looks better. Buttons: option-menu-button is too thin, others looks good. And notebook made with murrine... i prefer equinox but murrine is also good.

Anyway - good job! And of course i have a question - can i add your fix to gedit.rc file in next update? Of course with adnotation that credits for this fix belongs to you. - Nov 07 2010
But i ithink it will also work well with xfce. - Nov 04 2010
Thanks :-) Well it's not Mint, it's Ubuntu. And if you ask about graphic interface - it's GNOME, as far as i know it's default in linux mint :-) - Nov 04 2010

First of all thanks :-) If you could do some screenshots of those bugs in buttons it would really help me. And which widget would you like to be smaller? Tomorrow will be an update with a bit smaller buttons. Smaller scrollbar... hmm maybe few px smaller... i'll see how will it look. - Oct 25 2010
There will be an update tomorrow (radio/check buttons and scale size were not scalable, and now it is). Does normal buttons are also too small? - Oct 25 2010
My mistake:
go to gconf-editor apps -> nautilus and:
1. in preferences mark "desktop_labels_beside_icons".
and
2. in icon view mark "labels_beside_icons"

Sorry for my mistake. - Oct 25 2010
Thank you :-) About icons - you can change the text position in gconf-editor. Go to apps -> nautilus. There will be "desktop" and "preferences" - in both you have to mark show_text_beside_icons. - Oct 25 2010
