Shiki and Clearlooks have been ported to GTK3, and I'm running Debian Wheezy, so I should get round to updating this theme for GTK3 soon. - Oct 03 2012
I mean until I have GTK3 on my computer, I won't be able to experiment with the CSS theme files that GTK3 uses.
Anyway, this them is basically a modification of the Shiki/BSM themes- I'm not a theme writer, I just hacked them around a bit. I don't have the skill to write a CSS theme from scratch.
Maybe if a Shiki or BSM GTK3 theme appears, I'll have a go at modifying it to the same colour scheme and using the same buttons- but that's unlikely to happen for some time, if ever. - Jul 23 2011
Unlikely for a while, as I'm using Squeeze stable- so no GTK3. - Jul 22 2011
OK, I see what you mean now. It was a hint of brown remaining from the Shiki theme. I've edited the Metacity file now, so window borders should be dark grey.

(The advice always seems to be to delete the theme files from the .theme folder before reinstalling.) - Dec 13 2010
Screenshots now show:

No.1- Clearlooks Dark (Elementary icons) blue.
No.2- Clearlooks Dark Dust (Gnome-colors Dust icons) brown.
No.3- Clearlooks Dark Pink (Gnome-colors Illustrious icons) pink. - Dec 13 2010
Screeshot No.2 now shows Clearlooks Dark (blue highlights to match the Elementary icon set). - Dec 13 2010
The highlight colours match the icon set: brown for Gnome-Colors Dust and blue for elementary.

My mistake for only posting screenshots for Dust.

The theme can easily be adapted to the colour of any icon set. Any requests? - Dec 13 2010
I've tried to match the traditional Clearlooks buttons but with a dark look to match the Debian Squeeze "Darklooks" theme- for a slightly retro feel.

Are the buttons not displaying correctly, or do you just prefer the Shiki buttons?

Everything but the buttons/icons section of the Metacity file is borrowed from Shiki, so yes, just use the original Shiki Metacity file for more "modern" buttons.

Shiki has been ported to GTK3.

I've done a version for of Shiki Colors Light Menus for Openbox which includes a GTK3 theme.

It also seems to work on Gnome 3 if you use Gnome Tweak to set it as the Window theme and GTK+ theme.

There's a Gnome Panel GTK3 CSS file that I haven't touched yet, so that may need editing too. When I get round to it, I'll look at it and update this theme for Gnome 3. - Oct 03 2012
This theme is only a slight modification to the Shiki theme- so look for a GTK2 version of that theme.

GTK3 themes use CSS files to set colours etc, and these are pretty easy to understand and edit, so if the Shiki author does it GTK3 version, changing the background menu colour shouldn't be too hard. - Aug 13 2011

Thanks. (Sorry about the double post below.) - Nov 30 2010
This is a very nice theme, and I'd like to use it, but there are a few problems on Debian Squeeze.

The theme does not appear in Appearance preferences>themes. (Needs an index.theme file?)

The mid section of the upper panel and the whole of the lower panel do not take the correct colour. (I have the Equinox engine installed and other Equinox themes display correctly.)

Firefox/Iceweasel menubar text is almost unreadable- black on a dark grey background. (A userChrome.css file could fix this?)

Any chance you could sort these issues for Debian/other distro users?

Thanks. - Nov 30 2010

A very nice theme- thank you.

I see a small bug in Debian Lenny (with updated GTK and Murrine- so this is probably a tiny user base, but I hope you can help.)

The volume applet slider is virtually invisible, and the preferences menu inconsistent with other applet preference menus- see screenshot.
