Try another version of bdc following this link :
It should work fine, if not verify if there is a symlink in usr/bin named bdscan. - Feb 12 2008
What is the problem with RPM ? Can you be more explicit. - Feb 11 2008
The program can be find in /usr/bin and his name is bdfe.
The first time you launch the program it will be in french, to have it in another language, go to interface settings and change the langage, click on Save configuration button and restart the program to take changes. - Jul 18 2007
In Mandriva you can find the qmake program in /usr/lib/qt3/bin, but in knoppix you have to search in opt I think. Once you found it create a symbolic link in /usr/bin and all is ok. - Sep 30 2006
Just rename the bdscan to bdc or create a symbolic link to bdscan named bdc and it just works. - Jul 18 2006
if you untar in your home directory, you have to create a folder named bdfe in /usr/share and copy the lng folder inside, it should work now. - Dec 07 2005
This is not a real KDE application in the way it's realised under Qt3 designer without the help of KDevelop or any other GUI designer. You just need to have Qt3 installed on your machine and the following application :(IMPORTANT : you must install the Qt3 librairies !!!)

- qmake
- make
- lupdate (for translation)
- lrelease (for translation)

You can find these applications in the
following folder :

If you want you can make a link in usr/bin such as :

ln -s /usr/lib/qt3/bin

After you must untar the archive in your home directory, you must hide the following folder :

- moc
- obj
- ui

by renaming them like this :

- .moc
- .obj
- .ui

At last you start a console and go to the folder you untar the archive ant type :

make (works only if you modify the source code, if you want to test the compilation just delete the bdfe binary and type make !)

This application works in your home directory. No need to install in the /usr/bin folder. - Feb 23 2005
I think it's because you use Qt 3.1, I make and compile BitDefender FE with Qt 3.3, maybe new functionnality appeared in this version. Try to install Qt 3.3 and compile again. - Feb 20 2005

Just click on the help button, all that you want to know is explained, where to find the updated files, how to do the update (must be done with root's privilege ) everything was tested with a Mandrake 9.2 PowerPack and under KDE but It also works with Gnome. - Nov 27 2004
Yes It's GPL code, you can have them sending me a mail (georges.linares at, I just want to know where the sources go. It's all written in C++ and under Qt3 Designer. - Nov 26 2004
This is not a bug from the front end program, if you run the program in command line it does the same thing. - Nov 26 2004

Great Application ! Compiles fine and works well. Nevertheless, the configuration doesn't work, if i want to put the icon "copy" in the toolbar, the icon doesn't stay in the toolbar, she disappears. - Mar 15 2006
Fantastic program, I use the 1.0.1b and it works fine. I've tried the 1.0.2 version, it compile very well but when i launch it i've got this error :

Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/".
`shared object read from target memory' has disappeared; keeping its symbols.
0xffffe410 in __kernel_vsyscall ()
#0 0xffffe410 in __kernel_vsyscall ()

#2 0xb79234b8 in ?? ()
#3 0xb7860dec in ?? ()
#4 0x0000675d in ?? ()
#5 0x00000000 in ?? ()

And the program terminated with the Signal 11. Is this a bug of the shared library ?
I use Mandriva Linux 2006 PowerPack. - Dec 25 2005
