Look and feel is a personal thing -- KDE and GNOME are good examples :)
So, i don't see why I cannot have Windoze LnF on my PC. Consider if M$ was not all that devilish in its monopolistic policies and was a really 'open' company -- would you still be looking at another OS? Probably not! - Apr 30 2002

Nope, i don't agree with you about fonts in Galeon (at least). I am using Galeon 1.2.0 with mozilla 0.9.9 and boy, I haven't looked back at konqueror (yet!). Do you know if you have evolution and gtm (gnome transfer manager) installed, your entire web experience can be integrated into these 3 programs? Try it, you just might think again.
KDE, btw, is great for overall eye-candy friendly desktop, but I must say GNOME apps are superior! - Apr 23 2002

Hi,
Could you be kind enough to enlighten a few of us (I'm sure there are others) about where to find the Crystal Icon set? ;)
The screenshot is gr8.

Thanks. - Apr 09 2002

However, if I put kicker in auto-hide mode, and maximize a window on my desktop, then kicker should show the window behind it and not the background color. Is this planned in the future? That would be true transparency!

Excellent work, nevertheless! - Dec 14 2001

The fact mentioned by you is something to think about. I mean, is there a project out there (which probably one can contribute to) that is unifying the look and feel of all these various UI technologies? Its forcing a hegemony of sorts on the users which kind-of choose and stick to one WM as far as possible. Since, the apps written for GNOME (say) work ok under KDE, I feel even the look and feel should be native (of the widgets, that is). - Dec 08 2001

Yeah, you're right. The window decorations from the Luna theme are classy and guess what? I work on a b&w dinosaur of a monitor too...and this is the only style that looks cool even on that old hag......guess i'll keep it anyways now ;) - Dec 03 2001

The last step should read Look & Feel and NOT Loon & Feel :) - Nov 05 2001
1. Download the .tgz file :)
2. Run: tar zxvf 360-ksplashml-0.41.tgz in the directory where you downloaded the file in step 1. (This should create a directory called ksplash-ml)
3. cd ksplash-ml
4. ./configure
5. make
6. su root
7a. ** Backup /usr/bin/ksplash **
7b. make installGoto KDE Control Center and see under Loon & Feel!

M$ XP look is for kindergarten. Its apparent they tried to *emulate* linux GUI look but ended making it downright gaudy!
And then there's some vendor called stardock which claims to give windoze new skins...all of them made my skin creep for sure!!!

Can we get rid of the dark line running thru the center of push-buttons and the scrollbars? The menus look neat now but sometimes small push-buttons are hard to read!

Hi,
I have replaced the splash PNGs both in ~/.kde/share/apps/ksplash/pics and $KDEDIR/share/apps/ksplash/pics but i keep getting some old version of the splash screen.
I am not running KDM but using good ol' startx. However, I had installed a splash module for KDE Control Center...is that interfering with the splash screen? If yes, I wonder where its getting the pictures from?
I'm all but dying to get this splash screen working...aaaaaaaaahh! - Oct 24 2001
