Well, so far it just sound good!

And honestly: I can wait for KDE4 as long as I know that some great things are coming and they are not forgotten. KDE has ever been a work in progress.

Here is a little bug report though: I originalyl sent this to the scribus team but it seems to be originated in Domino style that Scribus is creashing at startup. I send you the output here:

I just wanted to note that I continously use this style since it was published. It is just great to look at, simple, smooth and clean.

Finally, I am getting used to the interesting 'hasFocus' indicator showing shadows on the selected text. Very nice! I can't await the next release, hopefully including configurable text shadows and mouse hover effects. - Oct 02 2006
Well, thanks again for this great style. It just rocks - but still..., well...:

o the 'default' button is still not marked. See, eg. Plastik which gives the current default button a darker outline, such that it looks a little sunken, but not pressed.
o There are still no mouse hover effects though I believe they could easily implemented (and are already). baghira has the following logic: Hovered, unhovered, and default buttons are tinted with different colors: Either with 'button color' or 'window background color' from the KDE color settings. For each mode you could give us the combobox entries 'button', 'background', 'not tinted'.
o The windeco has one usuability bug: I like it when the buttons disappear on nonactive windows. But when the mouse hovers a windeco of such a windows I want the buttons to be visible again (eg. if I want to close or minimize it)
o The new focus indicators: Just a two remarks. The underline is an interesting idea, though hyperlinks on dialogs look well... The use of the shadow engine for the text is NOT a good idea. The shadow is too strong and doesn't fit. What about just automatically taking the settings of the KDesktop text shadow which is configurable and may provide nice and smooth effects? - Jul 24 2006
Funniest, on www.bahn.de the KHTML buttons do have mouse hover effects. I believe he just needs to use a different "button color" on mouse hover. - Jul 24 2006
>Some people don't need it, so they
> can disable it.
> Maybe I will addapt the shadow color
> to the font color instead the
> backgrounds.

What do I need to do to adjust the backgrounds such that I can see the focus?
Btw: Since you need to implement the mousehover indicator as well, why don't you just take the same effect for both.

There is another thing bothering: the toolbar handle is only visible if the mouse is on it. I believe it should be visible as sonn as the mouse hovers the corresponding toolbar... - Jul 19 2006
Are the button masks okay? The background around buttons is not correctly updated when scrolling on webpages... - Jul 19 2006
There are no hover effects at all. (Well, you just need a lightening effect.)

There is some difference between Kapps and Qapps: On KDE toolbars the buttons are collected together into one. On Qt apps it does not happen leading to ugly screens.

the menubar looks like sh**t if MACOS style is used.

the icons in menuitems are misaligned. - Jul 19 2006
Wow, wow, wow!!! Though it crashes sometimes when changing options in kcontrol and when I have to restart KDE to apply the style to all apps.

Some suggestions:
o Centered tabs
o The 'widget has focus indicator' shouldn't be configurable, but always on. Btw: Particularly on buttons it is almost invisible such that i can't figure out if the keyboard focus is on any button.
o background gradients!!! What about some horizontal gradient like in Brushed metal or some vertical gradient for the top widgets like in Tiger??
o I am not a friend of these black edges on the scrollbar sliders, can you turn them off?
o If I change the color scheme I need to change all custom colors independently. Is it possible to say, eg. instead of setting 'color code #abcdef' 'take the color from button background, or window background or text color or whatsoever' ?

Well, however: good work. In opposite to Baghira, this style
implements:
o two gradients, which is a superb idea!
o smooth button edges
o a correct scrollbar transition between the buttons and the slider
o correct edges in progressbars
o smooth edges of groupboxes. - Jul 19 2006

Please, remove this cluttered sidebar. Why? take this:

  • If switched to 'Music' the sidebar takes always the half of my screen width, buttons are always wider than the sidebar width. What a mess!
  • How many lines do they draw there? First there is the splitter, then a line from the tab widget, then a sunken line indicating that a nother widget is encapsulated and depending on the skin another line is appearing. Makes 4 lines next to each other. Please, remove ALL of them! Just take the plain window background and place the context information flat on the pane,.
  • Certain information like the current song title, its length, its album icon and probably a short history should be visible always without the need to make thee cluttered sidebar visible - take juK for a very good UI study,
  • There are just too many tabs in the sidebar. How may someone add tabs to a sidebar? Two contradictious concepts! Either tabs OR a sidebar! And even a QToolBox encapsulated in the "context" bar would be better. The tabs take just too much space and let the bar look ugly (and need two clicks for access!)

A combination of this and KBFYX would be great!

Please don't take me wrong: I like the functionality and ui design. It's fast. But: It's not intuitive. The concept of the splitted menu uncommon to KDE. Moreover, KBFX does exactly the same: It has a kind of splitted menu (but which is more convinient) and which is completely themeable (!!). So, I would liek to see something like the combobox for selecting the favourite/last application list integrated into KBFX somehow, as well as the desktiop search. Anything else wouldn't have a future, particularly since the KBFX developers have joined the Plasma project...

When having inputlines/comboboxes which are not rectangular, e.g. in styles like Baghira there seems a bug to occur in KBFX.
The background is not transferred to the widget, wherefore a black area appears behind.

    Possible workarounds:
    (1) It is a baghira specific bug (unlikely?)
    (2) Set the background pixmap of the widget appropriately.

    No.

    What I mean is:

I browse in Konqueror and need to open a few images in an external graphics viewer. Then I want to arrange the single image windows side by side on my screen. For me it seems that for each image an own instance of ShowImg is created, eating my whole memory. - Aug 25 2005
    Hey there.

One problem I experienced using Gwenview and Showimg on Suse 9.3 is the huge amount of memory they are using.

Using the lightweight Kuickshow I could open plenty images at once from Konqueror. Unfortunately, Kuickshow is not shipped with Suse9.3 anymore.

With Gwenview and Showimg, I can open, say, 8 images from konqueror. Then my whole system is crashing because it is using the complete memory (384 RAm, 512 swap).

Is there a way to detect if Showimg has already been started (eg. DCOP) and then just to open a new window from the already started application instance?

    Hey

I have a kicker panel that is larger then "small", eg. "normal".

    Then there are two issues:

    (1) a bug: When opening a menu, the menu will hide the applet's buttons (I have kicker at the bottom). Only if I reopen the menu, everything will be in place.

    (2) Positioning
Could you generally think about what to do with placement on large panels?
Eg: A config option where to place it: Top, Bottom, Center aligned.
Moreover: A saveplace option: On some desktops it makes sense to have all menu items next to each other, but they waste space on smaller resolutions. What about aligning them in two rows then? - Jun 13 2005

Thanks for this report. This might probably be the reason for the starting bug on some systems. Can you do me the favor to tell me if this error happens when compiling against a 'fresh' source, meaning compiling after a 'make clean' command? Then, perhaps, a linking error happened. If not, ... well... - Apr 03 2005

it blocks kpager2 since it is a modal dialog. What else? - Apr 01 2005
2nd: Press Ctrl+Alt+Esc and click on Kicker to kill, or 'killall kicker'

The rest: well. Here, it is working perfectly.

Even the configuration is working perfectly. Of course things on the 'Custom' page are changed if you change the theme.

Switching desktops won't work if you enabled 3ddesktop, but don't have 3ddesktop installed.

Please, can you give a detailed bug report?

Well, that's odd. automake, configure, make, make install are quite uniform on all distros. Not even on Linux only. But that's one thing.

Aaron Seigo is checking if it is a Kicker related bug or Kpager2 related. Running appletproxy kpager2.desktop works. You might even kill kicker and restart it to try Kpager2 out.

There is no way out, currently. - Mar 31 2005
From the developer's point of view: It is working in appletproxy and if you restart kicker. It's kicker related if you ask me. - Mar 31 2005
    Hmmm-

You need to restart Kicker after loading the desktop and it can load KPager2. Were is this coming from? - Mar 30 2005
    ...loaded"

I get this error message since updating to kde3.4. Is that a kicker related bug due to the rewrite? I can't imagine what is leading to this error (probably KDevelop messed up my whole install again). Any ideas?

Manually adding the applet while running KDE is ok, but not automatically loading the applet at startup. - Mar 30 2005
hmmmm. funny. which distribution? is this issue related to the modification time (see top page)? It's working here... - Mar 29 2005

That's probably not a bug. How fast is your computer?

The app takes screenshots of the current visible screen and cuts the active window out of it. This is done every 15 seconds and whenever the active window changes. When switching from desktop 1 to 2 teh active window is changed and the app takes a screenshot. However, X might be relartively slow since it doesn't emit the windowChanged signal when the new window is opened and completely drawn, but when X gets the command to switch the active window. TaskbarV2 already has a delay of 50 msec to give X the time to redraw the window. Switching desktops, however, might take more time depending on the cpu speed. Wait 15 seconds and you are fine. - Mar 20 2005
