are you using qtcurve as your kdestyle? firefox looks fine here, checkboxes are black but as long as the dot is white it's usable.
the problem with amule is the fault of the amule devs i think, since they didn't use the default text color for the text in the tabs. AFAIK i can't change it, i'm sorry.

just yesterday i thought of how ugly the currently available kde4-themes are and that they don't fit to the plasma themes at all. someone should make a new one, as nice as the theme for windows (yes, windows!)
