Wow, thanks for taking over maintainership of my script :)

I was really hoping that someone takes over, since I've been too busy lately to continue developing it.

Good luck!

This is not an Amarok Script, it's just a script that can be used with Amarok.

Please change the category, otherwise users will get errors when they try to download it with the script manager.

Please change the type of the script here on kde-apps.org. It's not an Amarok Script!

If a user tries to install this with the script manager via the download function, installation will fail. - Feb 10 2007

Please don't do this! The amaroK Script category is strictly reserved for 100% compatible amaroK Scripts. This is because amaroK's download feature accesses this category and will offer your entry for download, but then of course the user won't be able to run it.

Please choose a different category.
- May 22 2006
Let me say that we don't encourage writing binary applications as amaroK scripts. The Script Manager is simply not intended to handle complications such as different architectures.

Please stick to scripting languages if possible.

You need libgpod for iPod support. See the README. - Mar 21 2006
First of all make sure you have Ruby 1.8 installed. Then, make sure the binary is called "ruby". Some distros call it "ruby-1.8" instead, and offer an additional package that creates the symlink to "ruby".

Either get this package, or create the symlink manually.

In beta1 the VFAT plugin is not yet fully working. It was added only very recently :)

In SVN there are already some improvements and fixes for the plugin, so it should be working a lot better in beta2.

Weird. Sorry to hear that. I hope you made a backup before using the script, as I recommended.

If you still have one of the original files (before using the script), could you send me one? markey@web.de

Looks like you're trying to call mp3fixer.rb from the shell. You can't do that. Instead invoke mp3fix.rb, which is the command line tool used by mp3fixer.

"ruby mp3fix.rb --help" - Jan 12 2006
No, the name of the program is "ruby". - Dec 19 2005
Well this certainly sounds strange. Can you start ruby from the shell? - Dec 18 2005
OK, 0.9.3 should handle your files fine. Have fun :) - Dec 18 2005
Hmm, that's strange. Which audio engine are you using? - Dec 15 2005
Sounds like your Ruby is too old. You need Ruby 1.8.

Let me know if upgrading helped. - Dec 15 2005
In that case there probably was nothing to repair. Next version I'll make it so that the frontend reports this. - Dec 14 2005
You need to reload the file into the playlist.

Good news: Version 0.9.2 refreshes the playlist automatically :) - Dec 14 2005
The problem is that xine is too dumb to read the XING header at all. It ignores the header, and instead just reads the first frame header. So you'll get the correct length in the playlist (from TagLib), but not in the position slider..

However, in amaroK SVN trunk I'm working on a solution for this. I.e. ignore the length provided from the engine if it seems bogus.

Also, I'm working on a new Mp3Fixer version that should be more reliable, and capable of repairing MP3s with broken headers. - Nov 21 2005
Sounds like the script aborted with a Ruby error, because when you terminate it from the ScriptManager with "Stop", it catches SIGTERM and removes the menu entry again. - Nov 21 2005

Congrats for providing the first lyrics script! :)

I've looked at the code, it's really good (better than mine;), and I'm glad that it's written in Ruby.

However, it didn't really work for me yet. Always yields "Lyrics not found", or it craps out with an error (happens with untagged files, I think). Hmm..

Could you port the README file to use rich text instead of plain text? We've been supporting that since early 1.3 versions. It just looks nicer :) - Nov 18 2005

Please keep in mind that automake miscompiles amaroK when you update from SVN, without doing "make clean". You will get nasty effects like a crash when you open the settings dialog.

So, the script should always make a clean build, or require unsermake. - Aug 03 2005
