Does this patch affect yakuake? Could it be applied to yakuake easily? That'd be cool. - Nov 06 2006

Could you post the svg or whatever original format it's in (if it's vector)

I'd like to use it on the top of my cube, in the script I wrote to generate a svg of todo items.

Thanks - May 17 2006

Hey, there's a slight bug when running ksmoothdock under compiz/xgl. The icons sometimes leave behind "ghosts" in the top half of the bar. I don't really expect this to be fixed as compiz and xgl are still beta and a change in code could cause working on this bug to be useless, but a similar problem that was found in kxdocker was fixed, and it now uses _true_ transparency (actual GL-enhanced transparency).

Maybe the kxdocker patch will work in a similar way on ksmoothdock - May 15 2006
I've got a problem running it on kde 3.5, it appears above the bottom of the screen and the graphics are messed up.
Anyone managed to patch this yet?

The error occured on gentoo, kde 3.5.0 and compiled with gcc 3.4.4 and -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -march=pentium4 - Dec 05 2005

Hey. I tried the same thing on slackware and it failed, then used your instructions and it works fine:

  • make -f Makefile.cvs
  • ./configure --without-arts
  • make
  • su, make install.

The only thing is that now i need to re-configure everything.
Also, a bit of an important bug that needs fixing is that ksmoothdock appears on the alt-tab list. Is there any patch for kde 3.4.2 to stop this? Thanks - Oct 13 2005

  • Is there any way to get ksmoothdock to run without responding to alt-f4, because if I don't have a window selected and I hit alt-f4 i have to go and open a konsole window and re-launch ksmoothdock & exit.

or if that won't work, maybe a script that automatically launches ksmoothdock if it is exited?

    Thanks - May 30 2005

Hey, just mentioning that the ebuild works properly on a Gentoo AMD64 system. You just have to update the ebuild so "amd64" is one of the keywords (right next to x86).

BTW, this was tested on an intel EM64T processor. Compiled cleanly and runs fine. - Mar 19 2006

To install it, you need to open the theme as a .tar.bz2 file (either extract using tar -xvf *.bz2 or ark) and dump the contents to a folder (let's say ~/Grounation-0.3)

Now, just enter that folder in konqueror, and right click either Grounation or Grounation-Left, mouse over compress and chose compress as .tar.gz

The file that is created is what you use in the kde control panel (install new theme)

    hope that helps :) - Nov 14 2005

Is there a way to run kuake so it looks like a login shell (applies dir colors, displays fortune, etc)

For example, run "konsole" then run "konsole --ls"

I seem to be having some problems, the theme does not save any configuration and nothing displays properly outside of the clock and first page.
