Beryl/Emerald Themes
test
>>I know this, but I don't know why this happens. :( <<
Damn, we'll have to work it out - I've seen it happen in other themes too.
>>"The grey highlights for button widgets are quite large, giving everything a chunky look and spacing tool bars out unnecessarily. Perhaps you could shave a few pixels off them? There's a similar issue with tabs, although not as pronounced."
I made this theme for very small font sizes, I'm using font size 8 in applications (HandelGotDLig 8 looks very good with this theme).<<
I'm speaking about the grey rectangular blobs underneath graphical buttons, Not text at all. For example the back and forward buttons on my browser, or all the tools on GIMP. The grey back that appears when you mouse over a button is very wide and could be a little slimmer. (IMO)
But like I said, this is a stylish theme. Thanks for your work. - May 21 2007

I forgot to mention: sometimes the drop down menu widget (the one with the little arrow) the grey background is sometimes split with a white band in the middle.

Very good, I love the bamboo look. Maybe I should now get a bamboo case and monitor to match? ;)
A couple of bugs and possible improvements...
The background of things like properties dialogues and the shutdown dialogue looks wrong. It seems to be using the same background as the panels and so it comes out in ugly stripes. Also the buttons in those dialogues are missing until you mouse over them, when they highlight as blue.
The grey highlights for button widgets are quite large, giving everything a chunky look and spacing tool bars out unnecessarily. Perhaps you could shave a few pixels off them? There's a similar issue with tabs, although not as pronounced.
But other than these few things really good port of a sexy theme! Thank you. - May 20 2007

Looking good so far, you might want to close the ellipses on the trashcan a little to make it look more 'real'. Think perspective.

Very good, it works very well as a contrast to the Muku GTK theme.
The min/max/close buttons could do with some differentiating from each other somehow. Just for those who can't remember where things are.
As for window font colour, the current colour is good, but it needs to be ghosted or made duller when the window doesn't have focus.
Very nice otherwise. Thank you! - May 21 2007

I can't decide if that's a joke or not. I'm going to assume it is since comic sans is the scourge of the Web. ;)

This area is for window borders, icons should be in the Icon Themes area.
Also you need not pack the windows and mac files as this site s for gnome.
But other than that - very pretty icons, thanks! - Mar 24 2007

I second this.

the name pun alone would get you a vote, but it's also very pretty.

There's already a load of vista clone themes. You've done a good job copying the design - The ugly and horrible design. But it looks the same as all the other vista clones.
For your second go why not try to come up with something original? - Jan 21 2007

Completely correct - this can only be true at b3ta.com where penguins and polar bears have been a tradition since 2002.

I must agree with Artic. What I think They mean is that there is no consistent theme across the whole icon set. It's just a bucket of unrelated pictures. For it to be consistent they'd need to all have a similar design. Like all based on the same frame or some kind of common design element.

I agree, LOAD "*",8,1 ;)

I know this is totally subjective and this isn't only directed at this theme (in fact I've given you a thumbs up for the rest of the design)
BUT
Do people really like those fat, ugly, badly underlit, chunky iconed Aero inspired buttons? (IMO)
I really hope not. - Sep 10 2006

Apart from it being a rip off of Adobe Photoshop's splash...

Works that are 99% derivitive of other people's art tend to be voted down here. Not sure why, I guess if you actually drew the wallpaper then you'd get more positive votes.

this a compiz theme or a metacity theme?
- Aug 05 2006
I've said it before. You do good work.
I like the idea of a dark theme but it's a pitty that as soon as you open a document or a web browser you get a big white square that messes with it.
Nothing you can do about that though.
GTK coming soon? COOL! - Aug 04 2006

Could you give examples of what it's lacking? I can't think of any right now...
I think Konqueror goes way too far and is bloated beyond use. Also KDE's whole philosophy for GUIs is "clutter and confuse". Not that Gnome is perfect in any sense. - Jul 30 2006

Shouldn't this be in the Topaz Brainstorm section?

The poor thing, let him out! XD

Good job.. now about that GTK theme... lol
This is exceptional work. In the past I've been disapointed with the choice of skins for mPlayer that I've settled for the cleanlooks clone.
More votes for you! - Jun 26 2006

One of the top three metacity themes I've seen IMO. Perhaps the window's title bar could be a few pixels smaller. A similar height to when it is shaded would be good. Other than that it has the right balance of eye candy and simplistic style.
I'd love to see a GTK2 theme that matches this and I see you're thinking about it. Just remember to keep it simple and stylish; perhaps think about something that contrasts with the window borders rather than copying them; or not (it's your baby!).
Keep up the GREAT work. - May 26 2006
