edit /etc/sddm.conf or files in /etc/sddm.conf.d and look for a line that starts 'InputMethod='. Change it to just 'InputMethod=' (nothing after the = sign). Can you post a pic of what the KDE1 should look like? Oh, and a vote would be nice ;) - Jan 06 2025

You can preview what it should look like from Settings>Splash Screen. For me, the splash lasts less than five seconds and stutters really badly as the desktop loads in so any animation gets destroyed. Open to any ideas for a different one though. - Sep 30 2024

The Plasma shots look like an old/broken version of Reactionary. The current version should look like this: https://my.opendesktop.org/s/7R6mXMBmT9txyoa . I absolutely agree the text should be white but Plasma only allows a single color for text. This has very much annoyed me for many years.

The KTextEditor popup is a sacrifice I needed to make for the sake of the theme (highlight color is used for left titlebar gradient) even though highlighted text is set to white in the colorscheme. - Sep 03 2024

Chromium (and UnGoogled-Chromium) styles itself correctly - https://my.opendesktop.org/s/bNLybxNf4TnJT4e. (Tried Thorium ages ago, not prepared to install it again.) Firefox has https://color.firefox.com where you can build you own theme. Vivaldi is easiest for building your own theme, its builtin to the browser- https://my.opendesktop.org/s/JSi7eykRCmMN5PD. Firstly, that's the old QMotifStyle from Qt 3. If I palette-swapped Irixium, it would look nearly like your example pic. https://www.inetdaemon.com/img/Solaris8-cde.png CDE mainly uses single pixel borders (view widgets an obvious exception). So I would thicken view widgets and increase contrast on other widgets (scrollbars for example) when I do some more work on this. And I would do... something... with those Tabs ;p - Jul 25 2024
