no, there is no technology for global menus under wayland - Jan 16 2019
1. the plasma app menu applets works ok in your system?
2. I can not test the applet under plasma 5.12 so there is chance that it needs specific version for plasma 5.12 - Nov 24 2018
yes! :) - Nov 16 2018
a user reported that he is using that setup and I wanted to demonstrate the flexibility of having three different applets to do the job... Window Title, Window Buttons and Window AppMenu - Nov 16 2018
you should ask experienced users of your distro how to do it... It uses the same libraries with previous Active Window Control. - Nov 16 2018

v0.8.x is a lot better than v0.7.x family

I suppose that v0.7.x is by default officially distributed from ubuntu.

You can ask the kubuntu devs or kubuntu community how to be always up to date with plasma and Latte.
Latte current stable branch is v0.8.x that was first introduced at Summer 2018.
Latte v0.7.x was introduced back at Summer 2017

> In which version it was redesigned? I'm using the one in Ubuntu 18.04 repo (0.7.4)

this is a very old version. You must ask your distro packagers or users how to obtain a new one. Latte stable version is v0.8.3 and v0.8 branch has improved so many things compared to v0.7 ... I think @rikmills provides updated packages for Latte dock in Ubuntu but you must use the backport plasma repo... Your distro community members is the best place to ask for this.

you can read more at: http://psifidotos.blogspot.com/2018/07/latte-dock-v08-friendly-smile.html

> That means each of them needs work.

of course but that also means that each and every one of the members of the open source community, users/bug reporters/developers should help is such tasks. Latte is actually developed by one man for the last two years, and that would be me. Better experience needs more people to help... ;) - Dec 28 2018
> I can't managed to add my preferred applications and remove the watch that I don't need.

To add applications drag n' drop them an application launcher or from krunner OR right click the window in the taskmanager and choose Pin

> Definitely needs more work.

Feel free to contribute then, source code can be found at: https://phabricator.kde.org/source/latte-dock/

> You have to re-open configuration of the dock every time you want to do it.

no you dont, it was designed in a way that this is not needed. Drag n' drop any plasmoid you want from the widgets explorer onto the dock.

> Another pain in the neck is that it does not respect already inserted panels and icon grid

Of course it does if these panels are also Latte panels. That is why in a Unity layout the left latte panel and the top latte panel are adjusting their position automatically by their own. Concerning plasma to identify external panels and docks you can blame plasma for this for not providing a way for external programs to publish their panels/docks geometries (https://phabricator.kde.org/T10172).

And as a note what you are requesting does not exist in no other DE or dock combination. Plank/Latte/Cairo Dock etc. etc... can not take into account the desktop content independent if that is Plasma,Gnome, XFCE etc. etc.

report please at: https://bugs.kde.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=latte-dock you are the first user reporting something like this - Nov 03 2018

please use https://bugs.kde.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=latte-dock for bugs/features. You may try to increase animations speed from Appearance page. If this isnt the thing then open a new bug report and attach also a video demonstrating the issue (e.g. from google drive) - Aug 20 2018
or you can just live with it... - Jul 29 2018
That separator is important part of Latte and that is why it is distributed with it.
You can remove the separator you have installed and afterwards install Latte, it will work just fine...
and by the way I am not the maintainer of the deb file - Jul 29 2018

bug reports at: https://bugs.kde.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=latte-dock but sounds more as a kubuntu packaging issue, it might be better to contact the packager - Jul 27 2018
yep, that is... the way to do this is the same as in plasma panels in order for the plasma users to not change their workflow. - May 16 2018

thanks a lot!! :) thank you for your icons and graphics !!! :) - Apr 05 2018
In most distrubutions you should be able to install it also from Discover application - Apr 05 2018
Probably you are using a different kde frameworks version than the one the package you installed was built. - Apr 04 2018
You dont have to disable the "Behave as normal dock window" option. You can just disable all touch gestures from plasma systemsettings, more info at: https://github.com/psifidotos/Latte-Dock/wiki/F.A.Q.#q-my-left-dock-behaves-strangely-from-plasma-510-and-beyond-can-i-fix-this - Dec 01 2017

in next version you will be able to enable/disable the panel shadows, change the transparency of the panel background and alter the widgets shadows(color, size, transparency)

there are no plans for supporting independent themes or 3D version, only what we get from the plasma theme

there are many launchpad like launchers that you can find as widgets to add them in Latte such as:
https://store.kde.org/p/1169537/
or from default plasma: fullscreen app launcher - Jul 28 2017
Unfortunately "Windows Go Over" isnt in the decisions of Latte dev team... - Jul 28 2017
We found a solution for (1) and it is already added in our master branch...
it will land in 0.7 version...
all applets that have set fillWidth or fillHeight are respected and fill the remaining space... the calculations take into account the multiple use of them of course.. I tested it with three different active window plasmoids placed around and it worked really good... - Apr 08 2017
the crash you sent there is a chance that has been fixed in our branch of v0.6 at github...

you can always report it at: https://github.com/psifidotos/Latte-Dock/issues
and guide you from there how to try the new commits and check if this is fixed...

- Apr 07 2017
Please report any issues or requests in out github page, it's only way to keep track what to implement and when... and provide an organized discussion per issue - Apr 07 2017
Sorry no alternative solution for fiilWidth yet... feel free to open a feature request at our github page or provide patches... - Apr 07 2017

One more thing, in order for this to work correctly with Download feature of Latte the file you are uploading must end to ".layout.latte" you can see this for example: https://store.kde.org/p/1231121/ - Dec 27 2018
For borderless maximized windows you can also use the Latte infrastructure: https://github.com/psifidotos/Latte-Dock/wiki/Tips-&-Tricks#q-can-i-have-different-borderlessmaximized-windows-option-between-different-layouts - Dec 27 2018

The theme has a small bug.
It misses a "shadow-center" element. Without this element plasma framework does not indicate that there is a full shadow element in the svgs.

1. This is the reason you do not see the shadow in plasma system settings.
2. This is the reason Latte Dock can not draw this theme shadow properly for its docks. For its panels there is no problem because kwin uses a different way to draw them. - Sep 01 2018

I am sorry but how did you manage to have a whitish top panel and a darkish left panel? Is that supported from the Nilium plasma theme? - Aug 27 2018

it is a second latte panel... just import the latte layout file in Latte... It should provide you with that exact layout... If you have already tried and you still cant get transparency in Latte docks or panels make sure that compositing is activated... - May 29 2018
