Hi, I saw kompose and it looks cool, but I got a question. I`m planning on putting it on an older computer which doesn`t quite have the HD space to take a KDE install (it`s using openbox with fbpanel) and I wanted to know. Is there any way to install kompose without installing kdelibs/kdebase (only installing qt)? - Feb 24 2007
That would require someone to stick OSX graphics server on top of linux. - Jan 24 2005

A question. Since this engine is based off Clearlooks (which I`m using right now). Why does this engine crash when you have the menubar applet enabled if the clearlooks one doesn`t (a proof is that Ubuntu uses a clearlook based engine as it`s default theme and they have the menubar applet enabled by default and they don`t have those crashes, another is that the default gnome uses clearlooks as it`s default theme and the menubar applet is also on by default there and no crashes neither)? - Feb 05 2007

The top OSXish menubar was a program DannyWu was working on, he panned to release it, but AFAICT some of the gnome developpers (it's rumored they were sent by M$) told Danny to stop making that app or they would talk to the boss (BillG) and get Danny jailed or finned. And Danny is no longer working on that app. - May 03 2006
The bottom bar is the StarterBar gDesklet and the top bar is a program/gDesklet DannyWu is working on. - Nov 16 2004
That's not a trick, it's a program that DannyWu is developping. - Sep 30 2004
Please Danny post the sources of that menubar program. - Aug 20 2004
Hi, I just installed your theme in my machine and it works great. I`m on an iBook using YellowDog Linux 3 and Gnome 2.2 (downloadin` Gnome 2.6)

Ahh please post the sources for your menubar program and when you do tell us where did you put them on.

P.D: Yes, I`m runnin` Linux on a Macintosh computer. It`s cause I got a quite old Mac that barelly runs OSX and that is if you install it through a program called X-postfacto which allows OSX to run on older unsupported Macs. - Aug 06 2004
Danny.

Would you mind posting the sources and binaries for i386 & ppc of that program you use to create the menubar (I know it's still beta, but if you make it available other people may help you testing, developping and fixing bugs in it).

Thanks. - Jul 30 2004
Hi DannyWu, Can you tell us the name of that program you use to create the menubar at the top.

Thanks - Jul 28 2004
Hi DannyWu, what's the name of that "independent" program you used to get the menubar and where can I get it?

Thanks - Jul 11 2004
Hi, I saw your screenshot and I got wondering. Is it really Mac OS X or is Gnome? and if it is Gnome. Which version are you running and how did you got the panel to look in that way? - Jun 30 2004

I partially agree.
I'm not liking the direction that's taking the big DE's.
KDE is big and bulky, and gnome is a bit windoze-like. I like the simplicity of gnome 2.14, but the traces of Windoze (menubar below the titlebar like Windoze, panels that can't be shrinked to a corner) makes me mad with rage.
My dream gnome would be gnome 2.14 with a fully functional Mac menubar (not the POS menubar applet, a real menubar holding the "File Edit View..."
menus in the panel and keeping them out of that stop below the app's window titlebar), a built-in compositing manager, built-in archiving in nautilus (not via file-roller, but built-in like the nautilus cd burner), a Mac-like main menu (without the arrow in the button launcher and without the "system" entries), and the ability to hide the bottom panel in a corner and have it save it's state (collapsed or expanded) when gnome is closed (using the session manager ofcourse).

P.d: I partially like gnome, but hate the way of thinking of it's current developpers, those guys want gnome to be like Windoze, and I hate Windoze. Also I like gnome to look like OS9 b/c I came from there and want to replace OS9 (which was discontinuated by Apple) with OSS to avoid further discontinuation-related problems. - May 03 2006

When you said that you designed the menu. Did you meant that you built the whole XPish menu and replaced the kbfx menu with it? or you meant that you made a kbfx button and applied it? And if the kbfx menu (the actual menu, not the button) can be fully changed. WHY EVERYBODY (especially siraj) WANTS IT TO LOOK LIKE F*CKING WINDOZE? WHO THE F*CK PAID YA OR MADE YA LIKE THAT POS LOOK? WHY IS THAT EVERYBODY DISLIKES THE SIMPLE AND CLUTTER-FREE MacOS 9 LIKE MENU?

Ahh. I had to vent some of my M$ induced hatred and paranoia. - Feb 10 2006

Hi, you need to install the XFree86/Xorg devel package to get the X includes and to build KDE software (including kde window decorations) you'll need the qt and kdebase devel packages. - Dec 30 2004

Hi, I got kmodemlights to compile but now I have a little problem. I would like to know how to set up the conection (and create the Lock file) without having to install gnome (Yes, I skipped the gnome installation when I installed Linux). I use a redhat clone which means that I use the redhat ppp configuration utility. - Sep 06 2004
Hi, what version of KDE are you using and what did you do to compile kmodemlights, it seems to fail on everybodys else computers. - Sep 02 2004
