I know I'm replying almost a year late, and I'm really sorry for not replying earlier bro but since the release of gtk 3 this theme became obsolete, and i could not continue maintaining this project. I dont really like gtk that much now, and i'm primarily using KDE now.

Just wanted to free myself of the guilt of ignoring the comment :) - Jul 30 2012
Yea, I had the same problem (panel gets screwed up with RGBA). Some places remain opaque whereas others become transparent.

What you can do (that's what I have currently) is:
1. install the theme (with the exceptions)
2. make the panel completely opaque (RGBA doesn't affect the panel in my theme, since the installer adds it as an exception. To cross-check, open up .profile in your home folder, and you should see something like
Quote:
export GTK_RGBA_APPS = allbut:<some long list>:gnome-panel

).
3. go to System>Preferences>Compiz config settings manager.
4. Go to opacity and brightness, and add a new entry there with the values:

Quote:
class=Gnome-panel

and set the opacity value to whatever u want. I set it to 80.

then add it.
it'll look something like this
http://i.imgur.com/yDhxb.png

Then the panel will become transparent, without u needing to set it via the gnome-panel properties. Things will even blur behind it (if you have blur enabled, ie)

- Apr 15 2011
And you also have to run this, preferably before everything else (sry I forgot)

Quote:
sudo apt-get remove gnome-color-chooser gtk2-module-rgba

then:

Quote:
gedit ~/.profile

and remove the line from the file that opens up
Quote:
export GTK_RGBA_APPS=allbut:totem:gedit:soffice:firefox-bin:cheese:gnome-panel

I dont know why ur panel got screwed up, but to uninstall (this is the reverse of whatever my installer did. I'll add an uninstaller in my next update)

Quote:
sudo apt-get install ppa-purge
sudo ppa-purge ppa:am-monkeyd/nautilus-elementary-ppa
sudo ppa-purge ppa:erik-b-andersen/rgba-gtk

Those commands should completely remove the latest murrine engine and nautilus elementary. After that, a restart (logging out & back in might also do) should revert everything. Then change the theme back to whatever u had via system>>preferences>>appearance.

If you also want to remove the theme (which'll just act as a normal non-transparent theme after the above commands),

Quote:
sudo rm -R /usr/share/themes/BlackGlass
sudo rm -R /usr/share/themes/Black\ Glass
- Apr 15 2011
Ooh. Maybe the latest murrine engine's screwing up the screensaver.

anyways, to uninstall, run these one at a time:

Quote:
sudo apt-get install ppa-purge
sudo ppa-purge ppa:am-monkeyd/nautilus-elementary-ppa
sudo ppa-purge ppa:erik-b-andersen/rgba-gtk

Those commands should completely remove the latest murrine engine and nautilus elementary. After that, a restart (logging out & back in might also do) should revert everything. Then change the theme back to whatever u had via system>>preferences>>appearance.

Quote:
sudo rm -R /usr/share/themes/BlackGlass
sudo rm -R /usr/share/themes/Black\ Glass
- Apr 15 2011
yea :)

>Go to system>>preferences>>gnome color chooser
>go to the "engines" tab
>click on "revert".
>click on "apply"
everything should be normal. At the most, log out and log back in. - Mar 30 2011
Oh :/

I think that's because of your graphics card. RGBA works differently on each computer, dont know why. On lucid (10.04), transparency for me was almost negligible and in Maverick it's as in the screenshots. On my mom's net-book (with intel) its again negligible. If your windows become partially transparent, while menus dont, I dont think I'll be able to fix that :(

RGBA still has many issues, and hopefully in the future it'll become more stable and customizable.

Although there is one workaround. Go to Compiz Config settings manager (you have to install compizconfig-settings-manager if not installed already).

Then go to "Opacity and brightness" (or something like that).

Add a new entry with these options:
(type=Menu | PopupMenu | DropdownMenu | Dialog | ModalDialog | Normal)

which should look like this:
http://i.imgur.com/tcyw8.png

Then set the value to whatever u want, save it. Then enable Opacity, and your menus should become transparent. It wont be exactly the same like mine, but its quite nice :) - Mar 28 2011
Emerald should be transparent by default (its a property of the theme.)

You might still be seeing the metacity borders. Try pressing alt+f2 and typing in "emerald --replace". If that fixes the problem, then switch to emerald from metacity using fusion-icon.

Otherwise try editing the emerald theme, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't have anything to do with the theme. - Mar 28 2011
Oops, you'll find "Force version" and "Lock version" in "Package" and not "Edit". My bad, sry. - Mar 19 2011

Hey I just added video support in version 0.7 :)
Check it out. - Apr 26 2011
Hey thanks for the report.

I didn't see (or get) that error ever before, but on searching a bit, found out that it might be an issue with your python version.

Do use python version 2.5? Then That might be the case. If you can upgrade to 2.6 it would be good, otherwise you'll have to wait a bit till I can patch it for 2.5 (or of course, if you want you can patch it.)

If you're not on 2.5, then It might take some time since I have to figure out how to fix it. - Mar 16 2011
And just one more thing. Did the installation fail? As in did you not get the script after insatlling? - Mar 16 2011
Heyy. The deb's not buggy, its just the command thats returning an error (not the script). But that's kinda normal, since I'm linking /usr/bin/nfuploader to /usr/share/nfuploader/Facebook.py

So if I install a deb, the next deb (update) wouldn't install (unless I remove the earlier link) since the linking command doesn't replace the earlier links. And the installation wont get stuck, since the script is in python (and not bash).

I'll check out u'r deb though. Thanks :) - Mar 16 2011
Hey no problem man. Glad to see someone like my app :D - Feb 06 2011
And about authorization not working, can you elaborate a bit more? As in the browser doesn't pop up, or what happens?

And I could not see your screenshot, dont know why. Google Docs says page is not available. - Feb 06 2011
Heyy.

The thing about the menu (file, upload, help) was a problem even I faced once, when I used the AppMenu applet (for global menus) and then removed the applet. The menu of this uploader didn't come back. I dont know why that happens, but I added an alternate way to access those menus.

Right click anywhere on the window, and file, upload and help should come up. Then you can go to file>>authorize. :) - Feb 06 2011
Heyy I've created a script. Couldn't get it to work on my install, thats because I have to download abt 400mb to update my repos. But It should work in your version.

here's the link:
http://www.2shared.com/file/BbIghYGH/Facebook_v03_Fedoratar.html

download, extract, run intall.sh as ROOT (first su, enter password, then ./install.sh). After that, run post-install.sh (NOT as root)

It should hopefully work. If not, then please let me know so that I can make it work. It would be great if you would also post the terminal output (if it didn't work, ie)

(If you dont have time or dont wand to test this script, no issue. I'll still try to make it work, and if I do, then I'll comment. Just let me know.)
Thanks :) - Dec 24 2010
Heyy. I've never used fedora personally, but I'll try to help.

I think its an RPM system (as in installs .rpm stuff?)

If so then the install script wont work. I've used a debian/apt-specific command.

I'll created a new install script that *should* work. I'm installing fedora on a virtual machine, and I'll post the new install script once i've tested it.

Thanks for commenting. I might add it to the main app as an install script for fedora/other yum OSs :)

- Dec 24 2010
Hey thanks. Glad u liked it :) - Dec 21 2010
Heyy. I'm currently working on that, but I doubt it'll be possible directly since the facebook API doesn't support it as yet (Apparently).

So what I was thinking is that I could upload the video to youtube, and then post a link to that video on the users wall.

And if I find out that facebook has added support for uploading videos, I'll surely add it :)

Thanks for commenting :) - Dec 21 2010

Hey. Your wallpaper looks really nice, but the download links are not working for me :(

Imageshack tells me "domain not registered"

and rapidshare just redirects to its home page (rapidshare.com).

Hey thanks for this script, it was awesome. however I just felt the need to add some description to the videos like the title, etc. so I created a script of mine which lets you add the title, descriptions, tags, etc and authorize your account :)

so I just posted this in gnome-look.org and I wanted to know whether I'm allowed to do that, or is it violating anything?

check it out at:

and thanks :) - Dec 04 2010
