I like these, but when I saw the title, I thought that this was going to be a gnome menu button with the word 'Open' on it. Weird, I know, but I was just thinking what a good linuxy equivalent to the word 'Start' on Windows would be. I think 'Open' is it! How about a version of these buttons that just says: 'Open'? I know it's odd, I jsut think it would be cool. - Oct 09 2008

I'd love to see a suite of these icons, they're just the kind of thing I like.
How about Bluenote for a name?

Free as in Speech, not necessarily free as in Beer. The people in the linux world do not work to produce an OS and tools that are cheap. They often do, but that's just a welcome side effect. The idea is to produce things that have the source included and are editable, so you're not locked in, The idea that getting free stuff is the spirit of linux demonstrates an extremely limited understanding of the purposes of the GPL. There are many companies that make money selling Linux. Good luck to them. And why shouldn't an artist ask for fair compensation? - Feb 28 2008

The right hand image is called kiss by Tanya Chalkin. It took very little time to find that out on google. It's important that you be more careful when playing with other people's images. Just because it's on the internet doesn't mean it's in the public domain! This is something that too few people know, and it's probably not your fault. Very few people actually come on to this site with the explicit purpose of ripping someone off. What would be the point? It's not like you can make any money off of it anyways! So please be careful in future, but don't let this discourage you from making your own submissions. - Sep 02 2007
