Since you are on 10.04 you probably need a newer version of murrine as well.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:murrine-daily/ppa
and update murrine, this should do the trick. - Mar 23 2011
It's awn. - Feb 08 2011
That is an indication that the tiheum equinox ppa isn't properly added to your sources list. Repeat the steps:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:tiheum/equinox
sudo apt-get update
and then retry:

sudo apt-get install gtk2-engines-equinox
- Feb 05 2011
You probably need a newer version of the murrine engine.Try this :
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:elementaryart/elementarydesktop
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gtk2-engines-murrine - Feb 05 2011
please check if the files are all installed:

ls -la /usr/share/themes/Atolm
ls -la /usr/share/themes/Atolm/gtk-2.0

Also make sure that file permissions are correct:

sudo chmod -R 755 /usr/share/themes/Atolm - Jan 18 2011
How did you install the theme, via ppa or manually? - Jan 18 2011
The murrine and equinox gtk engines are probably not installed:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:tiheum/equinox
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gtk2-engines-equinox gtk2-engines-murrine

and restart your session. - Jan 18 2011
I will look into it, i will also provide Chromium scrollbars but the next update will land near the end of February (right now i don't have the time to maintain my themes). - Jan 18 2011
Thanks for the screenshots, i will fix those for the next update. - Jan 11 2011
Can you please provide me with a screenshot (and a url of the article in question if it's possible)? - Jan 09 2011
Yes, i have launched pidgin but i missed the contact name problem, i will fix it in the next release.

As for opera, the statusbar link text is actually white in Opera 11 :
http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee279/SkiesOfAzel/Screenshot.png. The rest of the opera problems are unfixable if you want a working OpenOffice. Opera and OpenOffice are not gtk apps and both are using the same toplevel window and widget paths to emulated gtk. That means that if i try to fix OpenOffice, the same settings will also apply to Opera and i can do nothing about it. If they decide to actually care about gtk emulation and replace the generic GtkWindow they use with something else (like Mozilla did with MozillaGtkWidget), i could actually fix those problems with seperate per application settings, but as long as they don't, i am out of options. - Jan 04 2011
Thanks for your kind words and recommendations :). Unfortunately, i have one more update for Atolm ( xfwm, emerald support and a ppa) and one for Orta (bug fixes) and then i will be otherwise occupied till the end of February at least. - Jan 03 2011
That's only natural, Ceebeebg is MonkeyMagico, so the initial design for this theme was done by the same man that created the Cold gtk theme. The code and pixmaps are made from scratch though. - Jan 03 2011
Thanks mate :), also happy birthday and a happy new year !!! - Jan 01 2011
The OpenOffice problems will be fixed in the next update. - Jan 01 2011
Equinox is only used for the entries, not for menus or any other part of the theme. - Dec 29 2010
It's all due to the excellent mockup by Ceebeebg:
http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Mock+up+-+Proposal?content=136369 - Dec 29 2010
It's to avoid compatibility problems. If i used pixmaps for everything like i did with Orta and my previous themes, many apps would need individual fixes to look right. I could ditch equinox and use murrine for the entries as well, but they wouldn't look as good, or i could use pixmaps for them and loose color transparency. In the end it's all about compromise between the initial vision of the theme, compatibility and speed. - Dec 29 2010

Well the cursor thing is kind of a byproduct of using the pixmap engine to do the entries. It's the only way to produce soft shadows like that, but it also has some issues ... As for indication to which entry is active, there is a blue highlight. It's more subtle than the on in Ambiance but to my eyes it's viewable ( though i also happen to work with a fully calibrated IPS monitor).

You are right about the list focus indicator, i removed it because it looked ugly, it didn't cross my mind that people find it useful, sorry.

If i find some free time, i intend to rewrite Orta, and i will try to fix these issues. Thanks for taking the time to report them :). - Mar 20 2011
Nautilus Preferences > Tweaks > Show live breadcrumbs ;) - Mar 20 2011
What parts of the theme have you installed and how have you installed them? - Mar 05 2011
Sure, press download on the (Orta gtk2 theme) button and download the manual installation pack from DeviantArt. Follow the instructions for manual installation and you should be fine. - Feb 24 2011
You don't need my authorization (although you have it anyway), it's gpl :) - Feb 21 2011
Strangely no one has asked this before, i will see what i can do (it will probably take awhile). - Feb 15 2011
I will be more than glad to provide you with a link :

Old games but unparalleled artwork. - Feb 15 2011
That's great news :)! - Jan 28 2011
Well, right now i don't have the time. Besides, there is nothing to compile so the need for an ebuild isn't that great imo. - Jan 25 2011
That's a LibreOffice bug, i am aware of it but i can't fix it. Report it to the LibreOffice devs. How they managed to make the gtk emulation even worse than it was with OpenOffice is beyond me :P. - Jan 25 2011
This is a bug with Java (Swing). It uses a GtkMenu instead of a GtkMenuBar, so when you use darks menus the menubar text is of java apps is light colored (the same color the dark menus use for the menu items text). Unfortunately i can do nothing about it. - Jan 25 2011
Fire Up Orta Settings Manager and go to the Nautilus page. Select style for Nautilus Elementary, press save and reload the theme. - Jan 14 2011
Synaptic should now be fixed :) - Jan 13 2011
The pidgin issue is a known bug with pidgin itself, it uses the same text color for normal and active tabs. You could try using the light or smooth tabs which work fine with it. As for gnumeric, it has this bug with every pixmap theme there is, and i can't fix it (i've tried).

The issues with Turpial are caused by the fact that GtkDrawingArea is drawing its own background instead of following the gradient. This i might be able to fix in a future update. - Jan 13 2011
Sure, open the gtkrc file (gedit ~/.themes/Orta/gtk-2.0/gtkrc or sudo gedit /usr/share/themes/Orta/gtk-2.0/gtkrc if you've installed via ppa) ,goto line 13 and make it look like this :
gtk-icon-sizes = "gtk-button=16,16"
save and reload the theme - Jan 13 2011
Synaptic isn't broken, but pixmap engine 2.20 certainly is. I will have to add a fix for synaptic as well it seems. please check if Inkscape and thewidgetfactory also have the same problem and leave a comment. - Jan 13 2011
It's a weird bug, anyway it's short of fixed in the next update. - Jan 12 2011
Unfortunately i don't have a Karmic box to test my themes, so i don't have a version for Karmic in my ppa. - Jan 11 2011
Nope, the theme color has never changed since the first alpha came out. - Jan 05 2011
I will look into it. - Jan 05 2011
You are welcome :) - Jan 05 2011
I will fix this soon. - Jan 01 2011
It works fine in both my Maverick and Natty boxes, did you install via ppa or manually? - Dec 30 2010
Are you sure it's the theme's fault? It works fine here. Please provide me with your xfwm4 version and distro info. - Dec 30 2010
Goto ~/.themes/Orta/metacity-1 (or /usr/share/themes/Orta/metacity-1 depending on where the theme is installed) and open the xml file you find there in gedit. Under
<frame_geometry name="normal"
you will find values for left_width, right_width and bottom_height. Set them to your preference save the file and reload the metacity decorator. - Dec 27 2010
I did test it with Debian squeeze in the past and i didn't encounter this but i may have done something in the newer versions that causes it. I will look into it, but it might take a week before i do as i am otherwise occupied right now. - Dec 27 2010
This is another bug i can't replicate... If there is an Arch live cd i may manage to fix those problems for you. - Dec 26 2010
No can do can unfortunately. Non gtk apps can't have a different text color for normal and active tabs... - Dec 26 2010
I can't replicate this bug in Maverick or Natty. Can you please provide me with some info including your Orta settings and the distro you are using ? - Dec 24 2010
Wingpanel isn't even in alpha state yet and it doesn't support gtk themes. I could try cooking a workaround but the latest version doesn't work on my Natty box. When it does, i will look more into it. Btw, by looking at the code, setting the panel to dark in the Orta Settings Manager might fix the text color. - Dec 23 2010

Usually when ones tries to make something that looks distinct and unique, simplicity goes out of the window. You've managed to produce something that is clean, customizable, good looking, distinct and yet simple, how cool is that ? - Mar 19 2011
