I agree with this. The blinking is useful to catch your attention while working, but not so obvious if you step out of the room and some event happens. Having it blink indefinitely would be a good option to have. - Nov 23 2011
I use that addon in 11.10 and everything is fine on my end. The examples for the python Unity API also work fine as well...

Using the firefox addon? Please try this https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/unityfox/versions/?page=1#version-0.1.7

(just in case it isn't clear from the link, you want 0.1.7) - Oct 18 2011
Hmm...as much as I'd like the feature, it'd be better to stick to the standards, specially because this is, AFAIK, the only non-Gnome (or at least KDE-ready, as in dockable in a panel with other plasmoids) implementation. Consistency, you know.

Perhaps it will be added to the standards sometime soon, anyway. At least it looks like Unity is *planning* them, so maybe for 12.04...
Thanks anyway! - Oct 05 2011
Hm, well, what I did is pick an app and give the launcher the same capabilities the tray icon module of that app has, thus removing the need of running the program as a daemon.

Of course, using the API, this would require to have the program run at some point to populate the launcher. I thought it was more convenient to do it using a bash script to parse the app's config and just add the entries to a local .desktop file copied from the default.

It works, but it looks a bit ugly to not be able to separate the actions from the workspaces the app provides.

Thought I'd ask in case you found it during implementation.

At this point I believe the separators aren't really added to Unity yet, I haven't seen it in use, or documented, anywhere (and Unity is not an easily google-able name :( ) - Oct 05 2011
I have been asking around to no avail, and although this is a bit off-topic, I am implementing a bash script to form a dynamic quicklist for some app, and I see the Unity API docs mention support for horizontal separators. However, I cannot see any reference or pointer to this feature anywhere.
Is there any way to add a separator between quicklist entries by modifying the launcher .desktop? - Oct 04 2011
The first one would be nice for horizontal panels.
(Although I am considering adopting an Unity-style config if it's not tweaked) - Oct 03 2011
I was using an older version, charmed by the progress indicators and small space form (and migrating from Smooth Tasks that is apparently abandoned).
Today, I decided to check if it was updated and tried it. It looks fantastic with the background coloring, definitely keeping it forever :D

The best thing, that greatly surprised me checking the changelog, was the Unity implementation. That is pure genius and a great effort for intercompatibility! - Oct 02 2011

Just to update, everything seems to be working again in the new release. Thank you! - Nov 20 2011
It seems that for some time, peazip has been ignoring command-line parameters, breaking the servicemenu entries. For example, running with -ext2here opens peazip as if launched without parameters.

Right now using the GTK version under Ubuntu 11.10 (KDE4 env), but I have been experiencing this issue for some months (sorry for not notifying earlier).

Can you look into this issue? - Oct 24 2011
I have tried 1.9 this weekend. The new behavior to handle encrypted files is excellent, with the message in the titlebar.
GTK2 version is still quite a mess, and after a few system updates the interface has become impossible to read, so I am going to try GTK1 today. The Windows version looks excellent though.
Thumbs up for the new version! - Aug 13 2007
Well, so far this is my GUI compression app of choice. Excellent work, Mr.Tani.

At first I wasn't really impressed, after seeing about it on the gentoo forums, the interface was somewhat strange compared to most archivers and there were minor graphical glitches that made it a bit of a letdown, but I ended up growing fond of this app.
I would like to let you know my observations and suggestions about PeaZip:

First of all, I found somewhat strange to have, when making a new archive, the "add file" and "add directory" as separate elements. I think it'd be easier, from the user's perspective, to have those two buttons merged into one, and allow adding multiple files/folders from the "add file" dialog (at least in the last version, clicking on more than one file is supported but they won't be added to the archive's layout). I did however work around this by simply adding all files to the archive with the "-add2archive" command line parameter, but I think it would be a wonderful addition, specially in windows machines you can't add SentTo information or registry entries.

Then, as suggested in some other parts, drag and drop support would make PeaZip's performance skyrocket in most environments, both to make and extract from archives.

Then, in my Gentoo box, the pop-up help text appears fairly distorted, as with bad size, until you move the cursor a bit over elements so it stabilizes. Since pop-up help appears quickly, this is a minor annoyance once one is familiar with the program. So I would like to request an option to disable pop-up help.

Also, I work with multiple encrypted files (a task made easier by PeaZip). When opening them in PeaZip (generally with -ext2browse), two "cannot list archive's content" pop-up dialogs appear. Would it be possible to alter this behavior so, instead of the pop-ups, the message "Cannot list archive's content" appears in the main window, saving a few extra clicks? The user would notice inmediately (specially if the text is made bold and red or something) and since the password would be needed, switching to the window is a necessity.

About the integration, it was a good idea to add the .desktop files so KDE can know about PeaZip's existence. I found it very easy to integrate with other filemanagers as well thanks to the command-line parameters. However, I didn't notice them at first until I got the PDF document with them...can it be possible to add text or html documentation, or maybe a "-help" command-line switch in next releases?

Another minor suggestion would be to make the archive view columns fit the entire window's width. It feels a bit strange as it only takes like 90% of the total size of the window (by default size, in GTK2 version at least) and there's a little chunk of white space after the last column, making it a bit weird; resizing the window also keeps the same width.

Also, it would be nice to have a EWMH icon to identify PeaZip windows better in the taskbars.

All things considered, I really like PeaZip and I now use it daily now, making work with 7z compressed and encrypted backups a breeze. I will be awaiting next version impatiently (in a good way)! Please keep up the good work and thanks for this great app.

Best regards,
Sparrowmelody~

PS: I think this is one of those apps that need more publicity, by the way, so don't mind the flames around. Although I really hate GTK dialogs and stuff, this is well worth it.

Would it be possible to make a menu button such as this style? http://kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=141254

If not, I'd like to implement it myself even as a hackjob. Where should I be looking in the qtcurve window decoration sources to get started? - Oct 21 2011

I consider it pretty much perfect at this point. Thank you so much! (for some reason I cannot reply directly to your last message) - Oct 15 2011
Scanning the files defeats the purpose. I generally tag my files in a download dump folder, then redistribute them all around the filesystem.

A simple integer counter is fast, and shows actual usage of the tag instead of files with the tag. A tag that is used often, makes sense at the top even if the files are retagged or deleted, because you are still prone to use that tag again nevertheless. Not to mention it can be stored in plain text and easily modifiable, and keeps the program lightweight. - Oct 11 2011
Thanks!

About the tag separator, I also noticed it's common to find "-" in random downloaded files, so "*" is more appropriate.
Oh, and just for the record, Dolphin integration also works with Krusader (twin-pane file manager). I started to tag images like this.

And I find nepomuk to be a complete waste, so I am glad this came out as a replacement. Locate, find, krename and krusader's filter views are great in doing management and search when you do need them.

One last suggestion, since you have a cloud view built-in, would it be possible to keep usage of each tag to change order or size in the cloud?
Just increasing a counter for each tag would be enough for this, no need for more complex operations. - Oct 10 2011
Whoops, please ignore my request, I see why the "*" as opposed to other symbols.
However, let me replace my request by another: How about allowing quit using the escape key? - Oct 09 2011
I built and tried it and I really like the idea (I tried to do just this, manually, in the past, but was too tedious), just using locate I'll be able to find everything! Not to mention this system will work really well with other tools like krename and such.

The thing is, would it be possible to change the tag indicators to an user-configurable character? I'd personally prefer a character such as "-" instead. I can edit the source, but would be nice as an option.

Anyway, great tool! Thank you very much for it! - Oct 08 2011

...a simple local storage? that would make it usable without having Apache running and without having to be online.
IMO, there are plenty of online task managers, but there aren't enough simple offline ones.
A plasmoid like that would fill that niche. - Sep 09 2010

I do, but I am not in a stable residence at the moment, so I cannot sit in front of the computer as much as I'd like...does OpenDesktop.org have message capabilities? Can work...

By the way, I would like to make a small suggestion...I made a small script (nothing complex, just a pipe) to generate notes from text snippets. However, to read the new notes, zNotes has to be restarted. Is it possible to add a "refresh" button? - Jan 17 2010
Actually, please ignore my last message, as this still does happen in 4.4 Beta 2 and RC1 (however the transition messed up startup applications so znotes was not active, my bad).
What information can I provide to help? - Jan 10 2010
Interestingly enough, this strange behavior disappeared in KDE 4.4 Beta 2. unfortunately I didn't consider a rollback to 4.3 so I cannot provide further feedback. Did you manage to reproduce it in your system, though? I can give details on other running applications if needed. - Jan 04 2010
Happy new year :D
I see about scripts, by the way, maybe this is a bug. When I shutdown my machine (KDE 4.3, Ubuntu 9.10) zNotes blocks the shutdown and the tray icon becomes transparent. After this I can shutdown again and it doesn't keep blocking.
I compiled zNotes from the latest sources as of now. - Jan 01 2010
I was looking for a note manager in this style as well.
I tend to use Zim, that is more for advanced notes/wiki than anything, but this is just ideal to have around. Low resource usage and just the right set of features.
I am amused by the Scripts tab at the preferences menu. However I didn't find any reference in the package, nor any example script to use. I'd like to feature request a few example scripts to see how they can be useful. - Dec 30 2009

Very small and simple clipboard manager, I added it to my startup right away, it uses 5 times less resources than Klipper and I didn't use the user actions anyway...
However it doesn't seem to work with selection clipboards as well, are they planned for the future?

I am unfortunately a KDE user, but when I saw of this idea on Ubuntu Geek I couldn't help but find it interesting. Dynamic themes are pretty much unexplored territory, so any effort on that field deserves praise!

I am very interested on this plasmoid, but it doesn't seem to work on my system, what are its dependencies?
I ensured I have Nepomuk running, but even so the plasmoid space only shows "unable to start script" (not verbatim).

Considering all stream-capable linux media players consume several MB in RAM, this is a nifty addition. Unfortunately if the connection is not too stable (from low WiFi signal) there is no real way to force a stop/resume. Other than that it works as advertised and is very nice to have around, nice job and better idea! - Sep 30 2009
