I will add that to my list too. but, i plan to resubmit the list with each wish being individual.

also, if a tab is dragged to the kicker or desktop than should it become a new window featuring that tab's contents or a shortcut poiniting to the same location that that tab did or should this even be allowed?

Anyway, i definetely do not think tabs should be able to be droppe don other progrrams and appear as new windows.

The most consistent would be for tabs to be dropped on the desktop or panel and become shortcuts.

Please tell me though, I'm not sure what to say in my wish. - May 27 2003
Yes, that was supposed to be my #10, not adding close/add tab buttons but instead giving the user the ability to edit the tab toolbar like a normal toolbar and add or remove whatever buttons he or she wants to it. This would autoamtically allow the user to have add/close tab buttons.

What would really rockis to have all KDE applications use Firebird 0.6 style Ui customization. The way you do it in Firebir dis just so easy, versatile and innvoative.

I made a comment about this in my wishlist submission at - May 27 2003
There is a mozilla style tab creation button. The only thing that differs is that you can not place it on the tab toolbar, but you will probably soon be able to place it on the tab toolbar because many people want that.

And what do you mean the file manager does not have copy paste. I can copy paste files just fine using the shortcuts. Please explain. - May 27 2003

That would be very useful and it should be done that way. You should be able to just drag the trash can there on the panel.

Another reeeeaaaaallllllly cool thing I wish KDE had was GNOME's drawers with full drag and drop and ofcourse the exact same feel and effects too. That is probably on my top 10 for GNOME, and right next to embelms support another awesome feature. - May 19 2003

its something wrong with my Karamba, or I don't have something Karamba needs, but I still can't get this to work.

I run SuSE 8.2 and none of the news programs work, they don't display any text, the Register one won't work this one won't work etc.

Please explain to me in greater detail about the install news thing, it still gives me the error. - May 18 2003
Very nice with the sidebar to select your news sie. But, i tried it with SK 0.25 and it gives me an error "Couldn't find the program 'installnews"" and no news item appears when i click the icons.

I just went to the SuperKaramba website and I read what happened. Its amazing that someone can be so low as to mess up a site of a great free project like this. Really, whoever did that must have no life or be insane. Its not that hard to do that, how about showing some real talent and creating something! Its a lot easier to break stuff than make stuff!

Anyway, I really like this project! Good job! - May 08 2003

Your idea has worked! It took me a while to figure out how to save the profile and at the same time make the menubar disappear, but than I remembered KDE could be customized entirely and I just set a shortcut for it.

While this works a lot better than the previousone it still does not function quite as I want. When I click the desktop I get Konqueror's functions instead of desktop ones and I also can not add or see any of the icons I had on my desktop until I quit this embedded version of Konqueror. What i would like is something like the background program except with clickable links, functioning scrollbar and other basic functions like allowing you to check checkmarks etc. I do not want it to interfere my desktop and I want to be able to put icons on it. I don't mind having an adress bar, back, forward, print, and stop on it either as long as I can still use them and at the same time put icons covering parts of them.

There are also some other minor problems where Konqueror snaps out of this mode. For example if you make it full screen while using your technique than exit full screen it becomes a normal konqueror window. - Apr 10 2003
is there a way to make Karamba's applets follow KDE's color scheme ad/or style? Also, carddesk and Karamba complement each other nicely. I really hope Carddesk (not the entire slicer) and karan=mba will make it into 3.2 if they become mature enough. - Apr 06 2003
I knew about that too, but tht is really pretty bad.

1. It takes picture of scrollbars even though you can not use the scrollbars
2. Links can not be clicked
3. Fonts look pretty bad.
4. Does not show dynamic content correctly. (I.E.: gifs, flash slide shows, etc.)
5. Can not fill out forms etc.

And the list goes on, it is just a stupid screenshot of Konqueror at a given page, it does not even remove the fixed scrolbars. I really think something so poorly made should not be included in an ohterwise outstanding DE. This DE is not the garbage dump for Qt software!

I wanted something cool like in Windows.

Rght click on desktop. Go to properties. Go to desktop. Click customize and click web tab. You now have an easy to use dialog where you can maage webpages or applets on your desktop. You can have as a background adn you can actually navigate it! I want something like thsi in KDE. Not that crappy thing. I thought Konqueror was modular and with less than 10 lines it can be added to anything. - Apr 05 2003
I have not actually tried it yet, but it looks great however, native transparency would make it sooo much better. If it has a good architecture, clean anc concise code as well as enough features this will definetely make it in 3.2.

BTW: Is there any way to use Konqueror to render a webpage on teh desktop. For example in Windows I can make IE set a webpage as the background, its really cool, all i see is the scrollbar(s) and it functions just like a normal background except you can click links. Can KDE do this somehow? - Apr 04 2003

Anyway that is an excellent looking desktop, probably one of the best screenshots on this website, if not the best. It isn't that KDE doesen't look good or can't be configured to fit almost anyone's tastes, it is just that it usally looks too full of clutter and isn't as elegant.

I like it.

BTW: While this is a KDE website it has everything from GTK themes to X11 Mouse Themes there is no problem if if he gave usa fresh new screenshot not featuring our favorite DE. After all "screenshots" is very general and might as well include GNOME screenshots, we already have GTK themes. - Apr 08 2003

networking with xandros works jsut like you want. Right clicka folder, drive, floppy etc. select window sharing from teh context menu, give it a share name , comment if you like, set permissions, and voila it si on teh Windows network. I should also mention that it will ahve a nice emblem for whateer your sahring to show you it is being shared. Xandros really is very nice, even thoguh it uses KDE 2.2 as it's base. Do not be fooled though, they've tweaked KDe so much it is better than 3.1 and they don't even use Konqueror. - Mar 13 2003
I wish many of the aethstetic features I mentione din my origianl post would make it into Konqueror. Maybe som that are not so aethstetic only also, such as emblems (mmmm.. good) and special folder views such as audio, video, graphics etc. The way Nautilus integrates with Gstreamer is fantastic, if Konqueror could do that that would indeed be very nice. Also those views should maybe enable themeselves by default if the folder only contains those kidns of files.

I too like konqueror more for it's feature set, customizability, and KDe integration, but i ahve to admit Explorer and nautilus are very good also and many of their features would b very nice in konqueror. - Mar 13 2003
Nautilus 2.2 loads up just as fast as Konqueror and in fact it has been more stable than Konqueror on my computer, and this si true for most of the people.

Explore rdoes NOT rstart itself except after a crasha nd it asks you if you want to restart it or not, this is a good thing.

Yes this does have to do with usability, for example in KDE I can not evenr ead the text on font 16 with one of my backgrounds, using the same background I can read the text fine in GNOME 2.2 - Feb 07 2003
But, I want constructive feedback and hopefully if many people want the same features I do implemented into KDE the developers will listen and put it on their todo list.

memory Usage option IMo should eb removed, who really cares or needs this. Many people do not even know waht would be adequte, just pick the optimal. Anyway, again thsi should go in the same place wher eyou configure the text for your icons and this way it won't need a separate pop-up window or text color selector etc. - Mar 12 2003
Somehow, i don't think enabling shadows for icon text fits in well with Background, it would go etter in another place for appearence or desktop, maybe you should palce it in the same location as where you can configure the icon text.

In addition, I think you should remove teh background program of the configurationa dn jsut use the best one.

Also, a shadow opacity option would be nice.

BTW: I think shadowed desktop test should be default in KDE, it may not even need a configuration center, just sue the one they think is best, but it is definetely needed. I also think KDE needs a UI overhaul and greater simplification, roganization and more concise features. The features only used by 5% of users are just bloatware. Speed should also be increased =) GNOME is faster on my system. - Mar 12 2003
