KDE 3.x Window Decorations 17 comments
Also are there any theme or/and tehme engine creation tutuorials which aren't obsolete for KDE? - May 29 2003
also, if a tab is dragged to the kicker or desktop than should it become a new window featuring that tab's contents or a shortcut poiniting to the same location that that tab did or should this even be allowed?
Anyway, i definetely do not think tabs should be able to be droppe don other progrrams and appear as new windows.
The most consistent would be for tabs to be dropped on the desktop or panel and become shortcuts.
Please tell me though, I'm not sure what to say in my wish. - May 27 2003
What would really rockis to have all KDE applications use Firebird 0.6 style Ui customization. The way you do it in Firebir dis just so easy, versatile and innvoative.
I made a comment about this in my wishlist submission at bugs.kde.org. - May 27 2003
And what do you mean the file manager does not have copy paste. I can copy paste files just fine using the shortcuts. Please explain. - May 27 2003

Another reeeeaaaaallllllly cool thing I wish KDE had was GNOME's drawers with full drag and drop and ofcourse the exact same feel and effects too. That is probably on my top 10 for GNOME, and right next to embelms support another awesome feature. - May 19 2003
Do you have a wallpaper like that too? - May 19 2003
I run SuSE 8.2 and none of the news programs work, they don't display any text, the Register one won't work this one won't work etc.
Please explain to me in greater detail about the install news thing, it still gives me the error. - May 18 2003
What am I doing wrong? - May 17 2003
Is this just my problem? - May 17 2003
Even the respected and trusted Eric Raymond wrote a position paper on the lawsuit which can be found here and is very detailed as well as backed up with a lot of evidence: http://opensource.org/sco-vs-ibm.html - May 17 2003
Anyway, I really like this project! Good job! - May 08 2003
I really hope this gets merged with the normal karamba. Super karamba sounds like a freaky super here =o
(BTW: python really does rock, easiest language I have ever used, its like plain english and yet very powerful. If you want to make your rpogram print something than you just write:
and nothing else, in CPP you would need to include header files, make main function, have lsots of brackets and - Apr 21 2003
I also like CardDesk and Super Karamba very much! - Apr 24 2003
While this works a lot better than the previousone it still does not function quite as I want. When I click the desktop I get Konqueror's functions instead of desktop ones and I also can not add or see any of the icons I had on my desktop until I quit this embedded version of Konqueror. What i would like is something like the background program except with clickable links, functioning scrollbar and other basic functions like allowing you to check checkmarks etc. I do not want it to interfere my desktop and I want to be able to put icons on it. I don't mind having an adress bar, back, forward, print, and stop on it either as long as I can still use them and at the same time put icons covering parts of them.
There are also some other minor problems where Konqueror snaps out of this mode. For example if you make it full screen while using your technique than exit full screen it becomes a normal konqueror window. - Apr 10 2003
1. It takes picture of scrollbars even though you can not use the scrollbars
2. Links can not be clicked
3. Fonts look pretty bad.
4. Does not show dynamic content correctly. (I.E.: gifs, flash slide shows, etc.)
5. Can not fill out forms etc.
And the list goes on, it is just a stupid screenshot of Konqueror at a given page, it does not even remove the fixed scrolbars. I really think something so poorly made should not be included in an ohterwise outstanding DE. This DE is not the garbage dump for Qt software!
I wanted something cool like in Windows.
Rght click on desktop. Go to properties. Go to desktop. Click customize and click web tab. You now have an easy to use dialog where you can maage webpages or applets on your desktop. You can have KDE.org as a background adn you can actually navigate it! I want something like thsi in KDE. Not that crappy thing. I thought Konqueror was modular and with less than 10 lines it can be added to anything. - Apr 05 2003
BTW: Is there any way to use Konqueror to render a webpage on teh desktop. For example in Windows I can make IE set a webpage as the background, its really cool, all i see is the scrollbar(s) and it functions just like a normal background except you can click links. Can KDE do this somehow? - Apr 04 2003
Also when will X get translucency and when it does will that greately improve performance? - Apr 09 2003
I like it.
BTW: While this is a KDE website it has everything from GTK themes to X11 Mouse Themes there is no problem if if he gave usa fresh new screenshot not featuring our favorite DE. After all "screenshots" is very general and might as well include GNOME screenshots, we already have GTK themes. - Apr 08 2003

What I would really really like is rounded borders. - Mar 19 2003
IS it possible to animate more cursors, not jsut the main one? - Mar 16 2003
If not, it's still funny as a joke. - Mar 16 2003
This should not be posted after so little research, or if posted it should go in the forum. - Mar 13 2003
I too like konqueror more for it's feature set, customizability, and KDe integration, but i ahve to admit Explorer and nautilus are very good also and many of their features would b very nice in konqueror. - Mar 13 2003
Explore rdoes NOT rstart itself except after a crasha nd it asks you if you want to restart it or not, this is a good thing.
Yes this does have to do with usability, for example in KDE I can not evenr ead the text on font 16 with one of my backgrounds, using the same background I can read the text fine in GNOME 2.2 - Feb 07 2003

In addition, I think you should remove teh background program of the configurationa dn jsut use the best one.
Also, a shadow opacity option would be nice.
BTW: I think shadowed desktop test should be default in KDE, it may not even need a configuration center, just sue the one they think is best, but it is definetely needed. I also think KDE needs a UI overhaul and greater simplification, roganization and more concise features. The features only used by 5% of users are just bloatware. Speed should also be increased =) GNOME is faster on my system. - Mar 12 2003

Just out fo curiosity how did you get Slashdot as your background and can you navigate the website like when you make a website as a background in windows? - Mar 01 2003
In addition this really defies it's purpose if the shadow is not displayed while moving the window. After all having shadows is a usability and aethstetical improvement, it is clearer which window is selected.
Please take my suggestions and gret work so far!!! - Feb 23 2003
