It's a US/UK English thing. In US English, "corn" refers specifically to maize. In UK English, it refers to any kind of grain. - Feb 20 2007

Very nice, original design. I haven't tried it out yet, but I like that it includes access to so much GDM functionality, while visually dividing the different functions. I wonder if a visually simplified (flat colours or gradients) would be simple to make? - Jul 22 2006

This is a very nice face-browser theme, something that is unfortunately rather rare.

It looks like some of your screenshots have alternate images that aren't included in the package? Also, is the "already logged in" in the screenshot something in newer gdms? - Dec 09 2005

Not perfect, but a tremendous improvement. One thing -- it seems that this is used for some checkboxes, but not for others.

Also, for epiphany users, install in /usr/lib/mozilla-version/res/. - Sep 11 2005

I don't much care for the navigation stock icons, but that's just a matter of taste. Mostly, it is very good. It needs some more mime types (notably application/x-python), and a new home icon. Also, if it's made in inkscape, could you provide the scalable icons? - Aug 03 2005

These are very nice, and getting nicer all the time, but they really need stock icons. - Feb 13 2005

It's good to see a new GDM theme with the face browser. There are so many nice ones that I won't use because they don't include it. - Jan 16 2005

That change to the scrollbar looks nice (rounding the buttons, but not the slider). If you take a look at LighthouseBlue, you see how it looks if you do both — not bad, but not as good, either.

I'm looking forward to version 0.2. I've made a Fedora Core 3 rpm of 0.1, which might help some of the newbies with installation issues. I'm also converting some of my (unreleased) gtkrc themes which use a mixture of Bluecurve and LighthouseBlue to use ClearLooks, instead, as it gives a similar but slightly better effect. Have you addressed the gtk-1.x issue (i.e., providing a suitable gtkrc for gtk-1, even if you don't provide the engine)? - Jan 15 2005
As an update to Bluecurve, I think this engine is excellent. When I saw the screenshots, I had thought it was a combination of Bluecurve and LighthouseBlue, but it's got subtleties that neither of those have. I'm not sure I like the sunken menubar, but other than that, it's great.

A couple of quibbles:

1) No gtk1 engine. If there's not going to be one, any metathemes using this engine ought to distribute a matching gtk1 theme using Bluecurve and/or Lighthouseblue.

2) With certain metacity themes, it looks like the menubar needs a little vertical padding (outside of the sunken area). This is especially noticible with Bluecurve, for example.

Still, very nice engine. - Jan 09 2005
