Description: The user manual of any PC says to take a break each once in a while, but often we stay in front of the computer for hours... This plasmoid has been made to remind us to take our eyes off the screen sometimes.
Any comment or suggestion is appreciated. (as my English is not so good, you can help me correct the errors in the guide or in the plasmoid itself...)
PS: this applet will save you from glaucoma, myopia and stress!Last changelog:
==0.4 --pause only begins when user presses Ok --the pause can be "paused" --sound now works in kde 4.2
==0.3 --now compiles in kde 4.2 --edited installation instructions
That would be great! i tried to do that myself, but i failed miserably..
as for the patch you can send it to me at: lsnpreziosi[at]gmail[dot]com,
or you could upload it somewhere..
thank you and goodbye!
Thanks for your reply. Right now, I have just modified the code so that the initial pop-up (asking you if you are ready to pause, want to skip the pause, or shut eyesaver off) now uses Knotify. I stopped work while I waited for your reply, but now I will resume.
I think it would be unwise to ship the code in its current state, as it has no way to configure the notification, while yours could turn the sound on and off; so I will be looking into that next. Would you still like the patches as they currently stand? (It would be great if you'd open up a gitorious or github repo for your code!)
Also, if the in-pause dialog is to be Knotified!™, then it definitely needs that sexy progress bar that file transfer dialogs get. But I don't know if that should be moved to Knotify, because the dialog as it is now can jump on top of all the windows. What do you think?
Congrats on a great plasmoid--practical, useful, simple, and very good looking.
(ps: I'm curious to know what language the code is in. My guess is Italian?)
I just created a github repository, you should find it if you go to github.com and look for "eyesaver".
We can continue our discussion on github wiki, if it works...
ps:you're right, the code is written in Italian! It has to be almost impossible to understand it if you don't speak italian! :)
(if i have some time i'll try to translate it and add some comments before the next release...)
Thanks for the github repo. I've forked and patched; you can take a look at the diff and the commit logs. It's all pretty simple stuff right now. I'll start using the github wiki for notes and stuff.
Don't worry about translating it. The code is pretty straightforward--I like to think it speaks for itself. Plus, imagine how proud I was of myself when I figured out what was going on!
Ebuild with kde-4.2 build patch is pushed into kde-testing overlay.

Yes, it would be nice, if the tarball would be hosted here on kde-look.org, or at least somewhere else, where one do not need italian or an account to download it. :)
I'm sorry, it was working for me (probably because i had some cookies on my pc). Now i uploaded the tarball on kde-look.org and it should work.
Thanks for the report

Since the eyesaver plasmoid is not updated since 2009, I ended using Rsibreak, available in the Kubuntu packages.
Hello, I compiled the program for Debian sid but after installing it I can not find it in the widgets. Any Idea about this please? Thanks
I am modifying the applet to use the Knotify system rather than pop-ups/phonon. Would you apply the patches? If so, where do you want me to send them?

Working fine with the Kubuntu 9.04. Thank you.
I can't get it work under kde 4.2, cmake fails.
